What is Dermol 600 bath emollient?

Dermol 600 is a bath emollient which you add to your bath water so it can soften and moisturise your skin as you bathe. Ideal for those who suffer from eczema, dermatitis, or other dry skin conditions, Dermol 600 leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth. This product also helps to prevent itching caused by eczema or dermatitis.

What is eczema?

Eczema is a common skin condition that many people suffer throughout their lives. Eczema can show itself in small patches on the skin, or in much wider spread areas. Common symptoms of eczema include:

  • Dry skin
  • Itching
  • Redness
  • Cracked skin
  • Inflammation

How will Dermol 600 treat my eczema and dry skin?

Dermol 600 contains three active ingredients, which are:

  • Benzalkonium chloride
  • Liquid paraffin
  • Isopropyl myristate

Benzalkonium chloride is an antimicrobial, which helps to combat the bacteria on your skin which can make eczema worse while soothing symptoms of itching. Liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate are emollients which help to soften and moisturise the skin while restoring its normal function and preventing dehydration caused by washing and bathing.

How to use Dermol bath emollient.

Before using Dermol 600, shake the bottle well. For adults, the elderly, and older children add 30ml (one and a half capfuls) of Dermol 600 into your bathwater. For babies and younger children, add 15ml (3 quarters of a capful) to bathwater. Get into the bath and soak for 5 – 10 minutes. Get out of the bath and pat skin dry with a soft towel.

When should Dermol 600 not be used?

Do not use Dermol 600 if you are allergic to benzalkonium chloride, liquid paraffin, isopropyl myristate, or any of the other listed ingredients. Avoid getting this product in your eyes, especially when washing the face. Dermol 600 can make your bath slippery, so take extra care to avoid slipping when getting into or out of the bath and make sure to clean your bath with a suitable detergent after use.

As with all medicines, Dermol 600 bath emollient can have side effects, although not everyone will get them. In some very rare cases, Dermol 600 can cause local skin reactions, including:

  • Redness
  • Irritation
  • Itching

If you experience these or any other side effects while using this product, speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist right away.
