What are Clarityn tablets?

Clarityn tablets are a remedy for symptoms of hayfever and allergies. Take just one tablet a day to ease symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, coughing, and itchy or watery eyes. These tablets are perfect for those who suffer with allergies and are looking for an easy way to keep their symptoms under control.

How will Clarityn tablets help to ease my hayfever symptoms?

Clarityn tablets contain an active ingredient called loratadine, which is an anti-histamine. This means it works by blocking a natural substance called histamine in your body. This blocks your hayfever symptoms before they begin, working quickly to offer relief from sneezing, coughing, itching, and other irritating reactions.

What happens when you have hayfever?

When you have hayfever or another allergy, your body naturally creates histamine when you come into contact with pollen or whatever you’re allergic to. Histamine then tells different parts of your body to clear the irritant from your system, whether that be by sneezing, coughing, or itching, causing your allergy symptoms.

Can I use these tablets with other hayfever treatments?

Clarityn tablets can be used with some other hayfever remedies, including some nasal sprays and eye drops, but you should always speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before taking 2 medications together. This will help to prevent an accidental overdose or any adverse effects that can happen when medications interact.

Can I take this product if I’m taking other medication?

If you’re taking any other medication, including those obtained without a prescription, you should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before taking Clarityn. Some medications can interact when used together, causing unwanted side effects or making your medication less effective.

Can I take this product if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

If you’re pregnant you should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before taking this or any other medication, as they should be avoided during pregnancy if possible. You should not take Clarityn tablets if you’re breastfeeding as some of the active ingredient can pass to your baby in your breast milk.

Can I drive after taking these tablets?

Clarityn tablets usually don’t make you feel drowsy or dizzy after using them. However, if you do find that you experience these or any other side effects which may affect your ability to drive, you should not try to drive or operate any tools or machinery until you are absolutely sure you are safe to do so.

How to take these tablets

Adults and children over the age of 6 who weigh more than 30kg (4st 7lbs) should take 1 Clarityn tablet once a day. Do not take more than the recommended daily dose.

When should this product not be used?

Clarityn tablets should not be given to children under the age of 6 or children who weigh less than 30kg, which is the same as 4st 7lbs. Do not take this product if you are allergic to loratadine or any of the other listed ingredients. Speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before taking this product if you have liver disease or are scheduled to have any skin tests for allergies.
