What is CeraVe Blemish Control Gel?
CeraVe Blemish Control Gel is a hydrating, daily blemish treatment with 2% salicylic acid that clears acne and helps to prevent new breakouts from forming. It also offers gentle exfoliation with alpha and beta-hydroxy acids (AHA and BHA) that help to improve the appearance of pores along with calming niacinamide and barrier-strengthening ceramides.
This lightweight, hydrating, full-face blemish treatment contains glycolic and lactic acids to help even skin texture for smoother-looking skin. This effective treatment is oil-free, fragrance-free, paraben-free, free of drying alcohol, non-comedogenic and like all of CeraVe’s range, it’s dermatologically tested for your peace of mind.
How to use this product
Recommended for evening use. Before use, cleanse the skin thoroughly. Then cover the affected area with a thin layer of CeraVe Blemish Control Gel. Your skin may become very dry at first, so it’s advised to start with 1 application daily then gradually increase to 2 or 3 times daily if needed or as directed by your doctor. If your skin is still excessively dry or peeling occurs, reduce the application to once per day or every other day.
Please be aware that as this product contains alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) it may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun, increasing your likelihood of developing sunburn. Use CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion SPF50 to protect and hydrate your skin.
What are the benefits of salicylic acid?
Salicylic acid is mainly used to treat and prevent acne, so it’s perfect for oily, combination and acne-prone skin. It penetrates deep underneath the skin to rid the pores of excess oils and impurities, in addition to its exfoliating and anti-inflammatory properties.
What are the benefits of niacinamide?
Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B-3 and it’s a great solution if you’re dealing with rosacea or acne as it can reduce inflammation, minimise the appearance of pores and regulate oil production. It helps to build proteins in the skin and lock in moisture, in addition to aiding the prevention of sun damage and environmental pollutants.
What skin type do I have?
Determining your skin type is the first step in finding the skincare routine that’s right for you. If your skin produces too much sebum, it may become oily and you’ll probably find that your skin feels overly greasy and shiny. If you have dry skin, you could be suffering from skin that is rough, scaly or flaky. If you’ve got a combination skin type, you’ll probably find that the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) will generally be oily and prone to blemishes.
When should this product not be used?
Do not use CeraVe Blemish Control Gel if you are allergic to salicylic acid, niacinamide or any of the other listed ingredients. For use on the skin only, avoid contact with eyes and do not swallow. Do not use on broken, bleeding, infected or otherwise damaged skin. If you experience any irritation while using this product, stop using it right away. If irritation persists, speak to your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible. If irritation is severe (for example, symptoms of a severe allergic reaction), seek immediate medical assistance.
