What is Capasal Therapeutic Shampoo?

Capasal Therapeutic Shampoo is a treatment that works for several different conditions on the scalp, including eczema, dandruff, psoriasis, and cradle cap. This shampoo works thanks to the 3 active ingredients that it contains, which are:

  • Salicylic acid
  • Coconut oil
  • Distilled coal tar

Salicylic acid removes any flaky or loose skin. Coconut oil works to soften, moisturise and lubricate the scalp. Distilled coal tar stops itching on the scalp and helps to restore normal skin cell development.

What causes dandruff?

Dandruff is a condition that is caused by skin development, where it is too fast and as a result, leaves a surplus of dead skin, which ends up on the scalp and in the hair. This can be the result of several different conditions, including:

  • Seborrhoeic dermatitis
  • Tinea capitis – A fungal infection in the scalp
  • Eczema
  • Allergic dermatitis
  • Psoriasis

Dandruff can affect anyone, but it is not contagious and not harmful. Poor hygiene is not a factor in the formation of dandruff, though it can make the condition worse.

Who is this shampoo suitable for?

This shampoo is suitable to be used by adults and children, including babies. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to any of the ingredients that are contained in the shampoo. Anyone who is using any other medication should speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist for advice before using this shampoo.

Can this Capasal shampoo be used by someone pregnant or breastfeeding?

This shampoo is safe to use by someone pregnant or breastfeeding without issue. Though if you are unsure, consult a medical professional for advice before using.

How should Capasal Therapeutic Shampoo be used?

This shampoo can be used daily if it is necessary to do so. To use this shampoo, apply a small amount to wet hair and then massage it into the scalp thoroughly. Leave the shampoo on for a few minutes, remove as much lather off with the hands as possible and then rinse it off. Repeat the process and then dry the hair as normal.

Are there any side effects?

Like with any types of medication, there is a chance of side effects though it is rare. Potential side effects include an allergic skin reaction, such as irritated skin. It can also make the scalp condition worse. If you notice any side effect, stop using this shampoo and speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record any side effect that you notice using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
