What are Calceos chewable tablets?

Calceos chewable tablets are lemon flavoured vitamin D3 and calcium supplements. Chew two of these tablets a day to help treat vitamin D deficiency and prevent conditions which can affect your bones, like osteoporosis. Calceos tablets are especially useful for the elderly and others who are at risk of vitamin D or calcium deficiency, providing an easy way to get the nutrients you need.

Why do I need a vitamin D and calcium supplement?

Vitamin D and calcium supplements help to support healthy teeth, bones, and muscles. If you have a vitamin D deficiency then you can be at risk of osteomalacia, osteoporosis, or ricketts in children. Vitamin D and calcium work together, with vitamin D helping to regulate the amount of calcium in your body, so supplements like Calceos can help to treat and reduce your chances of deficiency.

How much vitamin D and calcium are in Calceos tablets?

Each Calceos tablet contains 1250mg of calcium carbonate, providing the equivalent of 500mg of calcium. They also contain 10 micrograms of colecalciferol, providing the equivalent of 400 I.U. of Vitamin D3. Each daily dose of 2 tablets will give you a total of 1000mg of calcium and 800 I.U. of Vitamin D3.

Can I take these tablets if I’m taking other medicines?

If you’re taking any other medication, including herbal remedies or medications you obtained without a prescription, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Calceos. This especially applies if you are taking any of the following:

  • Any other medications containing vitamin D or calcium

  • Any medications containing fluoride or iron

  • Cardiac glycosides, which are used to treat heart conditions

  • Thiazide diuretics, which are used to treat high blood pressure and oedema

  • Medicines containing strontium, which is used to treat osteoporosis

  • Estramustine, which is used in chemotherapy

  • Levothyroxine, which is used to treat thyroid deficiency

  • Orlistat, which is used to treat obesity

Are these tablets safe to take during pregnancy?

You should ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking Calceos or any other medications during your pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you have a vitamin D or calcium deficiency you may be able to take these tablets, but you should only do so after speaking to a medical professional.
