What is Canesbalance and when is it used?

Canesbalance provides a triple benefit of effectively relieving unpleasant odour and abnormal discharge. It also restricts the growth of bad bacteria and supports good bacteria to restore the natural environment.

It is used when you have the symptoms of Bacterial Vaginosis (BV). This is now the most common cause of vaginal discharge, it responds well to antibiotics which indicates that bacterial infection is involved. This treatment will relieve you from this infection.

How will it treat my symptoms?

The first step is to restore the acid balance of the vagina which will allow healthy bacteria to flourish. This treatment contains lactic acid and glycogen to relieve the unpleasant odour and abnormal discharge, restrict the growth of ‘bad’ bacteria and support the ‘good’ bacteria.

The gel is easy to insert using the hygienic single-use applicators and will treat your Bacterial Vaginosis in 2-3 days, carry on using this treatment for one week.

Can I buy Canesbalance Over the Counter?

Yes, you can buy certain pack sizes and doses of Canesbalance over the counter in the UK. You don’t need a prescription to buy this dose, but a pharmacist will need to ensure the treatment is suitable and safe for you.

What causes Bacterial Vaginosis?

Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) happens when the vagina loses its normal slight acidity. This acidity is created by health-promoting vaginal bacteria called lactobacilli.

In BV, germs called anaerobes, commonly including one named Gardnerella is found in the vagina, replacing the normal organisms. Anaerobes are bacteria that can survive without oxygen and produce an unpleasant odour.

The different between Bacterial Vaginosis and Thrush

Bacterial Vaginosis or BV is the most common vaginal infection among women, and it’s twice as common as thrush. Despite this, two out of three women with BV assume it’s thrush because they haven’t heard of Bacterial Vaginosis and don’t know how to recognise the symptoms. Here are the differences between BV and Thrush:

Symptoms of BV:

  • Possible fishy smell
  • Thin, watery and possible greyish white discharge or an abnormally large amount of discharge
  • Occasional discomfort

Symptoms of Thrush:

  • No smell
  • Thick, white, curd-like discharge
  • Intense itching or even a burning sensation
  • Redness and irritation of the skin around the vulva

Side effects and pregnancy

Canesbalance can be used during pregnancy and menstruation. However, you should see your doctor if you think you may have a vaginal infection during pregnancy. This treatment may cause some stinging. This is only temporary and should ease over time. If you are concerned, discontinue use and seek medical advice.

What is the recommended dosage of this treatment?

  • Use 1 tube daily for 7 days
  • Use before bedtime for easy and simple treatment of the symptoms of Bacterial Vaginosis
  • For the effective relief from the symptoms of BV such as an unpleasant odour, abnormal discharge and discomfort, use this medicine exactly how you are told by your doctor

Storage

Keep this medicine in the original packaging, do not use if the seal is already split on opening. Keep out of the sight and reach of children, do not store above 25 degrees.
