What is Benylin Mucus Cough & Cold All In One Relief?

This Benylin treatment is a solution for a mucus cough that will reduce a cough and relieve nose problems and clear mucus in the throat, chest, and nose. It works thanks to the active ingredients contained in the tablets, which are:

  • Paracetamol
  • Guaifenesin
  • Phenylephrine

Paracetamol is a painkiller that is found is a wide range of treatments that also serve as a treatment for a fever. Guaifenesin is an expectorant, which loosens the mucus that is trapped in the airway, helping to clear it. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that will thin the blood vessels affected by the illness.

Who are these tablets suitable for?

These Benylin tablets are suitable to be used by adults and children aged 12 and over. Anyone who is allergic to any of the ingredients contained in the tablets should not use them. These tablets should also not be used if you have or have had any of the following:

  • A serious heart condition
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • An overactive thyroid
  • Glaucoma
  • Difficulty passing urine
  • Taking antidepressants Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs), or take them in the last 14 days
  • Taking beta-blocking drugs
  • Taking any other decongestant drugs
  • Using cough suppressants

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use these tablets?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, then do not use these tablets.


How should Benylin Mucus Cough & Cold All In One Relief be used?

Take two tablets every four hours. Do not take more than eight tablets in a day. If symptoms do not improve, then speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist.


Are there any side effects?

Because it is a medicine, there is a chance of side effects. Potential side effects include:

  • A skin rash
  • An upset stomach
  • A change in a heartbeat
  • Insomnia
  • Nervousness
  • Tremors
  • A rise in body temperature
  • A rise in blood pressure with a headache
  • Vomiting
