The tablets work on your nasal mucus, alongside loosening the mucus in your chest to make it easier to cough up. They also help to relieve pain and fever.
How Benylin Mucus Cough & Cold All In One Relief works
Benylin Mucus Cough & Cold All In One Relief contains a combination of ingredients that are designed to make you feel like yourself in no time.
The tablets contain guaifenesin which loosens and thins the chest mucus, making it easier for you to cough up. It also lightens the heavy feeling in your chest.
Phenylephrine is a nasal decongestant. It helps to reduce swelling in the nasal passage alongside reducing the amount of mucus produced, allowing you to breathe more easily.
Finally, the tablets contain paracetamol which works by relieving pain and reducing your temperature.
Directions
Always take Benylin Mucus Cough & Cold All In One Relief exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.
Take 2 tablets every 4 hours, as required.
Do not take more than 8 tablets in any 24-hour period.
Do not take anything else containing paracetamol.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Benylin Mucus Cough & Cold All In One Relief may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:
- Difficulty passing urine
- Rashes, dermatitis or urticaria
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Insomnia
- Nausea, vomiting and stomach discomfort
- Diarrhoea
- Nervousness, irritability, restlessness, excitability
- Increased blood pressure
- Visual disturbances

Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
Warnings
Benylin Mucus Cough & Cold All In One Relief may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these tablets if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:
- You have a serious heart condition
- You have high blood pressure
- You have diabetes
- You have an overactive thyroid
- You have an enlarged prostate
- You have glaucoma
- You have difficulty passing urine
- You suffer from kidney or liver problems
Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before taking this medicine if you have a very bad cough or asthma.
You should also talk to a healthcare professional if you have a circulatory disorder.
Using/taking other medicines
If you have recently taken or are taking any other medications including ones not obtained with a prescription, you should speak to your healthcare provider.
It is important to talk to your GP or pharmacist if you are taking the following medication:
- Medication used to treat high cholesterol (e.g. cholestyramine)
- Medicines used to help with feeling sick (e.g. metoclopramide, domperidone)
- Anti-coagulants (e.g. warfarin)
- Barbiturates for epilepsy or to help you sleep
- Medicines to treat circulatory problems or to lower blood pressure (e.g. digoxin, guanethidine, reserpine, methyldopa)
- Beta-blockers or vasodilators
- Phenothiazines used as sedatives (e.g. chlorpromazine, pericyazine, fluphenazine)
- The antibiotic flucloxacillin
If you are going to have blood or urine tests, taking this medication might affect the results.
Age restrictions
Benylin Mucus Cough & Cold All In One Relief is not suitable for children under 12.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.
Alcohol
Do not drink alcohol whilst taking this medication.
Driving and operating machinery
This medication can cause dizziness. If you are affected, do not drive or operate machinery until you feel safe to do so.
Storage information
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
