What is Benylin Mucus Cough Max Honey & Lemon syrup?
This Benylin cough syrup is a solution that treats a mucus cough and reduces congestion in the chest. It works by breaking down the mucus that has built up in the chest and the throat. Breaking down the mucus will make it much easier to move it from the chest and throat. The active ingredient of this medicine is guaifenesin.
What causes a mucus cough?
A mucus cough, like any a cough, is most likely caused by an infection such as a cold or flu, as well as an allergic reaction like hay fever. A mucus cough is as a result of mucus or phlegm building up in the chest or throat, causing a blockage. A cough is a response to the blockage, as it is an attempt to remove the mucus or phlegm that is the cause.
Who is this mucus cough medicine suitable for?
This medicine is suitable to be used by adults and children aged 12 and over. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the syrup.
Can this medicine be used by someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding?
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, then you should speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this Benylin cough syrup.
How should Benylin Mucus Cough Max Honey & Lemon syrup be used?
When using this medicine, it is recommended that you take 10ml (two 5ml spoonfuls) up to four times a day. If symptoms do not improve after a week of use, then you speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist for advice.
Are there any side effects?
A side effect is most likely going to be caused by an allergic reaction. If you notice a side effect, then speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record any side effect using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
