What is Bell's Liquid Paraffin?
Bell's Liquid Paraffin is a temporary relief for constipation that can help to make your bowel movements easier. Ideal for those suffering from constipation and find that their stools are hard, dry, or very large. Bell's Liquid Paraffin helps to soften your poo, making your trip to the toilet much easier.
Why do I have constipation?
Constipation is a common problem that many people face and it can be caused by many different things. If you haven’t had a poo at least 3 times in one week or find that your poo is difficult to push out, dry, hard, or larger than usual you could be constipated. Some of the most common causes of constipation include:
- Not eating enough fibre – found in fruits, vegetables, and cereals
- A change in your diet
- Dehydration
- Not getting enough exercise
- Ignoring the urge to go to the bathroom
- Stress, anxiety, or depression
- Side effects of your medication
- Pregnancy or giving birth
- Other underlying medical conditions
How will this product help to relieve my constipation?
Bell's Liquid Paraffin contains nothing but 100% liquid paraffin, which is a commonly used faecal softener. This means that this product will help to hydrate and soften your poo, making it easier to pass when you go to the toilet.
How to use Bell's Liquid Paraffin
For adults, the elderly, and children over the age of 12, take 2 – 6 x 5ml spoonfuls of Bell's Liquid Paraffin. This will form a total of 10 – 30ml of his medicine. For children between the ages of 3 – 12, take 1 – 4 x 5ml spoonfuls, a total of 5 – 20ml of Bell's Liquid Paraffin. Take these doses when required.
When should Bell's Liquid Paraffin not be used?
Bell's Liquid Paraffin is not suitable for use by children under the age of 3. Do not use this product if you are allergic to liquid paraffin. Do not use this product for long periods of time. If you have persistent abdominal pain or have a condition that makes swallowing difficult, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this product.
Does this product have any side effects?
Like all medicines, Bell's Liquid Paraffin can have side effects, although not everyone will get them. If you use this product for a prolonged period of time, it can cause anal irritation, inflammation and formation of lumps. Accidentally breathing in this product can cause congestion in your lungs. If you experience these or any other side effects while using Bell's Liquid Paraffin, speak to your doctor or pharmacist right away.
