What is Beclometasone Nasal Spray?

Beclometasone nasal spray is hay fever and allergy relief medication for adults over the age of 18. If you’re suffering from a blocked or runny nose, sneezing, itching in your nose and throat, this nasal spray can help to ease your symptoms quickly and effectively. If you’re looking for a reliable way to relieve hay fever symptoms, just two sprays of beclometasone nasal spray in each nostril can help to treat those annoying symptoms fast.

What happens when you have hay fever?

When you have hay fever it means that you’re allergic to a substance called pollen that’s released from plants and flowers, especially in the spring and summer months. When you come into contact with pollen your body releases a substance called histamine to try and get rid of it. This causes symptoms like sneezing, a runny nose, itching in your eyes, ears, nose, and throat, and more.

How will the beclometasone dipropionate in this nasal spray relieve my hay fever symptoms?

The active ingredient in this nasal spray is beclometasone dipropionate, which is a type of medication called a corticosteroid or steroid. This means it helps to ease hay fever symptoms by reducing inflammation in the lining of your nose. This helps to reduce symptoms like sneezing and itching as well as reducing swelling in your nasal passages, easing a blocked or runny nose in the process.

Can I take this product if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

You should speak to your doctor before taking beclometasone nasal spray if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. Some medications may not be right for you or your baby during these times and a medical professional can help you to choose a remedy that’s safe for both of you.

Can I take this product if I’m taking other medication?

If you’re taking any other medication, including herbal remedies and medications obtained without a prescription, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product. This especially applies if you are already taking:

  • Medicines for HIV, such as ritonavir or cobicistat
  • Corticosteroid medications, including injections, creams, or nasal sprays

Can I use this nasal spray if I’m taking other hay fever remedies?

You may be able to use beclometasone nasal spray alongside antihistamine tablets or other hay fever medications to ease your symptoms. However, you should only do this if your doctor has told you that it’s safe for you to do so, so you can be sure that the combination is right for you.

How to use this nasal spray

This product should only be used by adults over 18. Before using this product, remove the dust cap and gently shake the bottle. Place the nozzle of the spray into one nostril and hold your other nostril closed with a finger. Keep the spray upright, breathe in through your nose and press down on the nozzle to release a spray into your nose. Apply 2 sprays into each nostril twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening.
