Aspirin 75mg - 28 Dispersible Tablets help prevent heart attacks and strokes in people who have experienced them before. 

They are also used for people with unstable angina and after heart bypass surgery.

How Aspirin 75mg - 28 Dispersible Tablets work

Aspirin 75mg - 28 Dispersible Tablets belong to a group of medications known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

They work by relieving pain and reducing inflammation and temperature. 

This medication also thins the blood, helping to prevent blood clots from forming.

Directions

Always take Aspirin 75mg - 28 Dispersible Tablets exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. 

Take the tablets with a glass of water. 

For long-term use, take 1-2 tablets a day.

For short-term use, your healthcare provider might recommend up to 4 tablets a day.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Aspirin 75mg - 28 Dispersible Tablets may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include: 

• Increased bleeding or slight blood loss
• Indigestion 
• Diarrhoea 
• Nausea
• Anaemia or other blood disorders
• Mouth ulcers
• Bruising more easily

Serious side effects

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness. 

Serious side effects are extremely rare. Stop taking the medication and contact a doctor immediately if you experience the following:

• A severe rash that involves reddening, peeling and swelling of the skin that resembles severe burns or irregular red patches on your skin
• A sudden severe headache, seizures, changes in vision and speech, understanding or coordination issues and weakness in your arms and legs (these could be signs of bleeding on the brain)
• Bloody or black tarry stools accompanied by severe stomach pains and vomiting blood (these are symptoms of a stomach ulcer or bleeding)
• Pale yellow skin, weakness, breathlessness and bruising more easily (this is usually caused by changes in numbers and types of blood cells or a reduced amount of red and white blood cells)
• Yellowing of the skin and eyes, tiredness, abdominal pain and pain in your joints or muscles could be a sign of liver problems, including hepatitis 

If you take large doses of this medication for a long time, you might develop symptoms of salicylism. Symptoms include:

• Dizziness
• Ringing or buzzing in the ear
• Deafness
• Sweating 
• Nausea and vomiting 
• Headaches 
• Confusion 

Warnings

Aspirin 75mg - 28 Dispersible Tablets may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these tablets if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:

• You have a stomach ulcer, a history of ulcers or indigestion
• You have bleeding in the stomach and/or your intestines, or other types of bleeding e.g. bleeding from the blood vessels of the brain
• You have nasal polyps associated with asthma 
• You have haemophilia or other blood clotting disorders 
• You have severe liver, kidney or heart failure

Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before taking this medicine if: 

• You have asthma, chronic respiratory disease or allergies 
• You experience heavy periods 
• You have high blood pressure 
• You have heart, liver or kidney problems 
• You have gout 
• You have a severe skin rash with flushing, a fever, blisters or ulcers 
• You have an overactive thyroid gland 
• You are dehydrated 
• You have anaemia 
• You suffer from a deficiency of the enzyme glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase
• You have systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or another connective tissue disease
• You have a disorder that affects the blood vessels in the brain
• You are elderly 

Using/taking other medicines

If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking this medication. 

Do not take this medication if you are taking probenecid to treat gout or methotrexate to treat cancer or rheumatoid arthritis.

If this product is taken at the same time as other medication, it could influence the way that the medication works, in particular:

• Warfarin, heparin, phenindione, dipyridamole and clopidogrel (used to thin the blood and prevent clots)
• Ciclosporin and tacrolimus (used to prevent organ rejection after a transplant)
• Diuretics, calcium channel blockers, ACE inhibitors and acetazolamide (to treat high blood pressure)
• Anti-inflammatory medicines e.g. ibuprofen or steroids (for pain and inflammation)
• Metoclopramide or domperidone (to prevent sickness)
• Deferasirox (for people with excessive iron levels after a blood transfusion) 
• Corticosteroids 
• Digoxin (for heart problems)
• Iron salts (to treat iron deficiency anaemia) 
• Carbonates (to treat peptic ulcers and reflux) 
• Antacids (to treat indigestion and heartburn)
• Antidiabetics 
• Phenytoin or sodium valproate (to treat epilepsy)
• Mifepristone (to induce an abortion) 
• Medicines that can cause hearing problems e.g. vancomycin
• Lithium or SSRIs e.g. sertraline or paroxetine (to treat depression)
• Metamizole (used to reduce pain and fever)
• The chickenpox vaccine (varicella)
• Herbal medicines that contain ginkgo biloba

Age restrictions 

This medication is not suitable for children under 16 years old. 

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Do not take this product during pregnancy, especially in the last 3 months, or whilst you are breastfeeding unless your doctor has advised you to. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine. 

Alcohol

Avoid drinking alcohol whilst you are taking this medication, as it may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. 

Storage information

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
