How Anadin Ultra works

Anadin Ultra contains ibuprofen. It belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) that work by relieving pain and reducing inflammation, swelling and fever.

Always take these capsules exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.

1 or 2 capsules should be taken up to 3 times a day as required.

The recommended interval between doses is approximately 6-8 hours.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Anadin Ultra may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:

  • Allergic reactions e.g. hives, skin rashes and itching
  • Abdominal pain, indigestion, heartburn and nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhoea and constipation
  • High blood pressure

For more information on potential side effects, refer to the patient information leaflet. If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

Serious side effects

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.

Serious side effects might include inflammation of the brain lining, worsening of asthma and peptic ulceration or perforation.

Anadin Ultra may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:

  • You have or have ever had a stomach ulcer, perforation or bleeding
  • Suffer from severe kidney, liver or heart failure

  • You have an infection

Medicines such as ibuprofen may be associated with a small increased risk of heart attack or stroke.
