Almotriptan Tablets relieve headaches that are associated with migraine attacks. They can be used for migraines with or without aura.
How Almotriptan Tablets work
Almotriptan Tablets belong to a group of medicines known as selective serotonin receptor agonists.
They work by narrowing the blood vessels around the brain, which stops pain signals from being sent to the brain. They also block the release of certain natural substances that cause pain, nausea and other symptoms of migraines.
Directions
Always take Almotriptan Tablets exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.
The usual dose is 1 x 12.5mg, which should be taken as early as possible when a migraine attack starts.
If your migraine does not subside, do not take more than 1 tablet for the same migraine attack.
If you experience a second migraine attack, then you may take a second tablet, but this must be taken at least 2 hours after the first tablet.
Do not take more than 2 tablets in 24 hours.
If you have severe kidney disease, do not take more than 1 tablet in 24 hours.
