What is Adex Gel?

Adex gel is an emollient gel that helps to soothe and protect your areas of dry skin. It’s ideal for those who are suffering from eczema, dermatitis, or psoriasis, helping to reduce inflammation in your irritated skin during flare-ups. If you’re looking for a dry skin treatment that’s perfect for the whole family, even toddlers who are older than 1, Adex gel could be the perfect product for you.

What is eczema?

Eczema is a common dry skin condition that lots of people suffer from every day. It’s more common in children, but many of them grow out of it as they get older, and some people may develop eczema for the first time as adults. Eczema can occur in smaller patches, or larger more widespread areas of the skin, causing dryness, inflammation, and itching when you experience flare-ups. You can experience eczema all over your body, but some of the most common places where people experience eczema include:

  • Hands and feet
  • Inside the creases of the skin, e.g. inside your elbows or the backs of your knees
  • The face and scalp, especially in children

How will Adex Gel treat my eczema and dry skin?

Adex gel works as an emollient, which means that it forms a protective barrier over your skin when you apply it. This barrier helps to keep moisture locked into your skin, helping it to get the hydration it needs to heal properly, leaving it soft and smooth. This barrier can also help to keep irritants away from your damaged skin, protecting it and keeping it from becoming more inflamed.

Can I use this product if I’m taking other medication?

Adex Gel is not currently known to affect or be affected by, any other medications that are taken orally (swallowed). However, if you are using any other products that are applied to your skin, such as other emollients or steroid creams, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using this product so you can be sure they are safe to use together. If a medical professional tells you that it’s okay for you to use this product at the same time as other skin treatments, make sure to leave a suitable amount of time to let each product absorb into the skin before applying other treatments to the same area. This will keep you from diluting any of the treatments you’re using.

Can I use this product during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using this product. Adex gel has not been tested for safety during pregnancy and should be used with caution under medical supervision at this time.

How to use this product

Gently smooth as much Adex gel as you need over dry or inflamed areas of skin. For best results, do not rub the skin vigorously, but use as few gentle strokes as possible, stroking in the same direction as hair growth just like you would if you were stroking a cat or a dog. Let the gel absorb into your skin for a short while, if necessary. Use 3 times a day, or as often as you need to.

When should this product not be used?

Adex Gel is not suitable for use in children under the age of 1 year. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the listed ingredients. Be aware that this product contains paraffin, which is an important ingredient in emollients, but can increase the flammability of fabrics it comes into contact with. Be sure to change dressings, clothing, bedding, and any other fabric this product comes into contact with regularly, and stay away from naked flames, lit cigarettes, etc. while using this product.

Does Adex Gel have any side effects?

Like all medications, Adex Gel can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. These include skin reactions, such as mild rashes or allergic reactions. If you experience these or any other side effects while using this product, stop use and speak to your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible. For more information about reporting the side effects of medication, please see the MHRA’s Yellow Card Scheme.
