What is Multi-Action Actifed Chesty Coughs?

This Actifed syrup is a solution for chesty coughs that works to relieve the symptoms and ease breathing that may have been affected. The active ingredients for this medicine are:

  • Guaifenesin
  • Pseudoephedrine
  • Triprolidine

Guaifenesin is an expectorant that helps to loosen the mucus that is trapped in the chest, throat, and nose. Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant that will provide relief for a blocked nose by reducing the swelling of the blood vessels in the nose. Triprolidine is an antihistamine that also works to reduce the effects of a cold.

What causes a chesty cough?

A chesty cough is the result of mucus or phlegm blocking the airways in the nose, chest, and throat, as well as the nose. This causes the cough reaction, which is the body’s reaction and attempts to remove the mucus from the body. The increase in mucus is caused by a cold or flu that causes more mucus to be produced by the body.
