What are Accu-Chek Instant Test Strips?

Accu-Chek Instant Test Strips make blood glucose testing easy and convenient with a wide dosing area and a strip ejector for quick, hygienic removal. These test strips only require a very small blood sample to perform a blood glucose test - just 0.6µl of blood.

Which devices are compatible with these test strips?

Accu-Chek Instant Test Strips are compatible with the Accu-Chek Instant and Accu-Chek Instant S blood glucose meters. If you have a different device, these test strips will not work with your blood glucose meter and you will need to find the correct corresponding strips.

How to use diabetic test strips

Start by thoroughly washing and drying your hands. Put one of the test strips into a compatible blood glucose meter and prick your fingertip with a clean lancing device. Squeeze out a drop of blood and touch it with the edge of your test strip. Your meter should display a blood sugar reading in around 5 seconds. Once you’ve recorded your reading, dispose of the test strip immediately and do not reuse.

Can you reuse test strips?

No, you can’t reuse test strips. If you attempt to reuse a test strip, your meter will tell you that the strip is invalid as soon as you insert it. If you get a reading at all, it cannot be trusted as an accurate reading as the strip has been tampered with. Manufacturers only put enough enzymes into the strip for one test and one test only - after it’s been used, there won’t be enough for another test.

What is the best time to check blood sugar?

It’s a good idea to tie your testing times into daily events, that way, you’ll always remember to check your levels. It’s best to test your blood sugar before all three of your meals, after exercise, and before you go to sleep. It’s important to test before you eat as fasting glucose levels will give you a better, truer reading - if you forget and need to test after a meal, you should wait a couple of hours to ensure your reading is accurate.
