Scope

This SOP sets out the process for detecting and report safeguarding issues concerning vulnerable adults and children in England

 

Guidance

  • If a vulnerable adult or child is in immediate danger the police should be notified immediately regardless of the stage of the SOP reached
  • Relevant GPHC holders should complete the Safeguarding Training administered by CPPE and display relevant certificates in the dispensary.

 

Concerns/incidents

 

Consent

  • Obtain consent prior for sharing information with any third party
  • If a patient refuses to provide consent then this should be respected –  if sharing is deemed necessary to prevent harm or risk to an patient, the pharmacist can disclose confidential information to fulfil their professional duty
