What causes a cold?

The common cold is caused by a virus, which can affect the nose, throat and chest. It can cause a variety of symptoms including:

  • Cough
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Sneezing
  • Temperature

The common cold is very contagious and can be easily spread, especially in enclosed spaces such as the office or at home. A cold is not usually something to worry about, although it can cause some discomfort. However if your symptoms do not improve after a couple of weeks or your symptoms become worse, it can be advised to speak to your doctor.

How can Lemsip Sachets help to soothe coughs and colds?

Lemsip Sachets contain three active ingredients:

  • Paracetamol - a painkiller
  • Phenylephrine Hydrochloride - a nasal decongestant
  • Guaifenesin - an exporant

These three ingredients work together to help provide relief from symptoms of the common cold. Paracetamol helps to treat aches and pains, including a headache and can also help to lower high temperatures. Phenylephrine hydrochloride can help to reduce swelling in the nasal passages to relieve congestion and can reduce the pressure that may cause a headache. Guaifenesin is an expectorant that can help you to cough up phlegm when experiencing a chesty cough.
