What is Lemsip Cough Max For Chesty Cough & Cold?

Lemsip Cough Max For Chesty Cough & Cold is a treatment that works to relieve a number of symptoms associated with a cough and cold, including headaches, sore throat, nasal congestion, and aches and pains. This is achieved thanks to the three active ingredients that are contained in the sachets. These are:

  • Paracetamol
  • Guaifenesin
  • Phenylephrine

Paracetamol is a common painkiller that also has the effect of reducing fever. Guaifenesin is an expectorant that helps to loosen the mucus that is the primary cause of a chesty cough. Phenylephrine is a nasal decongestant that helps to reduce the swelling in the nose and sinuses caused by a cold.

What causes a cold?

A cold is caused by an infection caused by a virus. This virus spreads and gets into the body either in the eyes, nose or mouth because of germs in the air which can be caused by someone who is infected sneezing. Or it can be caused by the germs landing on surfaces and being touched by hands. Germs that are on surfaces can live for up to 24 hours.

Who are these Lemsip sachets suitable for?

These sachets are suitable to be used by adults and children aged 12 and over. Anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the sachets should not use them. They should also not be used if you have or have had any of the following in the past:

  • High blood pressure
  • Have taken in the last 14 days taken antidepressants called Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)

If you are using any medication for another condition, then speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using.

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use these sachets?
