Evorel patches relieve symptoms of menopause, such as hot flushes and vaginal dryness, by working as HRT. The patches slowly release their active ingredient over time, providing consistent relief with each patch. The patches are available in 25, 50, 75, and 100mcg strengths, so your prescriber can help to reduce your symptoms with a dose that’s perfect for you.
How Evorel HRT patches relieve menopause symptoms
Evorel patches are a type of treatment called HRT, or hormone replacement therapy. When you go through menopause, the levels of female hormones created in the body, such as oestrogen, can decrease. HRT replaces the oestrogen your body would create, helping to keep your hormone levels stable and reducing symptoms of menopause as a result.
Directions
Before use, choose a hairless area of skin below the waist where you can stick your Evorel patch. Most prefer applying the patch to their thigh or bottom. Open the protective pouch containing your patch and peel away half of the protective backing on the patch. Apply the open half of the patch to your skin with the sticky side down, remove the rest of the protective backing and press the patch down firmly with the palm of your hand. Change your patch twice a week, for example, once on Monday and again on Thursday. Do not apply the patch in the exact same place twice in a row.

Other medicines
If you are using any other medication you should speak to your doctor or prescriber before using Evorel. Some medications can interact with your treatment and cause unwanted side effects or make your medication less effective. This especially applies if you are already taking:
- Medicines for epilepsy, such as phenobarbital, phenytoin, and carbamazepine
- Medicines for tuberculosis, such as rifampicin and rifabutin
- Medicines used to treat HIV infections, such as nevirapine, efavirenz, ritonavir, and nelfinavir

Operations or medical tests
If you are due to have an operation, a blood test, or a urine test you should tell your doctor that you are using or planning to use Evorel patches. HRT can affect the results of blood tests in ways your healthcare team should be aware of. If you are going to have an operation, you may need to stop taking HRT 4 - 6 weeks before the date of your surgery to reduce the risk of you experiencing a blood clot.
