What are Estradot Conti HRT Patches?
Estradot Conti is a hormone replacement (HRT) patch for postmenopausal people (defined by having no periods for at least a year). It releases two hormones—oestrogen and progestogen—to relieve symptoms like hot flushes.
What strengths of Estradot Conti HRT Patches are available?
There are two strengths of Estradot Conti available. You'll start on the lower strength (30 mcg/95 mcg) for the shortest time needed. If your symptoms aren't well controlled after three months, your prescriber may switch you to the higher strength (40 mcg/130 mcg).
How do Estradot Conti HRT Patches work?
During the menopause, your body stops producing enough oestrogen, which causes symptoms like hot flushes. By replacing these hormones, the patch helps relieve these uncomfortable symptoms.
How to use Estradot Conti patches
When to apply:
· use a new patch every 3-4 days
· apply continuously without stopping
Where to apply:
· upper thigh (side area) works best
· choose skin that doesn't wrinkle much when you move
· do not apply to your breasts
· avoid areas where tight clothing might rub
Before you apply:
· clean the area with water only
· make sure skin is completely dry
· remove any hair
· do not use lotions, oils, gels, sunscreen, or moisturisers
· skin must not be red, irritated, or damaged
Who should consider Estradot Conti HRT Patches
Estradot Conti is for postmenopausal women (those who haven't had a period for at least a year and are experiencing menopause symptoms, particularly hot flushes). It's only suitable if your symptoms are seriously hindering your daily life.
There is limited evidence on how effective this treatment is in those over 65.
