What is CeraVe Reparative Hand Cream?

CeraVe Reparative Hand Cream helps to intensely hydrate and moisturise dry, cracked hands. The non-greasy formula contains 3 essential ceramides and hyaluronic acid which support and protect the skin barrier to retain moisture and prevent your skin from drying. The richly, textured cream format is non-comedogenic, so it will not clog your pores, is fragrance-free and suitable for dry skin. CeraVe has been developed with dermatologists and is hypoallergenic, for skin care you can trust. If you’re looking for an effective moisturiser for your hard-working hands, try CeraVe Reparative Hand Cream.

Why are my hands dry?

Your hands can be dry for a variety of reasons. Environmental factors such as a drop in temperature can cause your skin to become dry as there is less humidity in the air which can dehydrate the skin. Spending time in heated areas can also cause a lack of moisture in the skin. Although it is important to keep our hands clean throughout the day, excessive washing or sanitising can cause the skin to become dry and cracked. This can cause a breakdown in the skin's natural protective barrier which can leave your hands vulnerable to infection and cause unpleasant symptoms such as itching, flaking, cracking and even pain.

How can I prevent dry, cracked hands?

There are many steps you can take to avoid your hands from becoming dry and cracked. Washing your hands with soap and water is more kind to the skin compared with hand sanitiser as sanitiser contains alcohol which is very drying on the skin. Although it is beneficial to sanitise the hands when on the go and soap and water isn’t available, if it is possible to wash your hands, choose this over sanitiser. Do not apply hand sanitiser after washing as this can strip the skin of moisture. When using strong cleaning products to cleanse and disinfect surfaces, protect your hands by wearing gloves to prevent contact with harsh chemicals.

Use a hand cream after washing to lock in moisture and protect the skin's natural barrier to prevent dryness and cracking. It can also be beneficial to regularly apply hand cream when spending time in heated or air-conditioned environments, such as the office. This is because these environments can decrease moisture within your skin, so applying a hand cream will help to keep your skin hydrated and comfortable. When choosing a hand cream, ensure it contains ingredients and properties that can long-lasting moisturisation. Products that contain emollients and ceramides can help to lock in moisture and replenish the skin’s natural barrier.

What are ceramides?

Ceramides are oils (also known as lipids) which are naturally found in the skin. They make up 50% of the skin barrier and are essential for retaining moisture. If the level of ceramides in your skin is low, this can cause the skin barrier to become weak and allow moisture to escape from the skin. Applying a product that contains ceramides directly to the skin can help to protect the skin’s barrier and lock in moisture in the skin to prevent it from drying out.

How can CeraVe Hand Cream help to soothe dry hands?

CeraVe Reparative Hand Cream can help to provide soothing relief and increase hydration in dry, rough hands. The non-greasy, non-comedogenic formula is rich and contains MVE Delivery technology for hydration that can last up to 24 hours and without clogging your pores. Like all CeraVe products the cream contains 3 essential ceramides which are essential for supporting and replenishing the skin barrier and hyaluronic acid to protect the skin from irritants. This effective hand cream has been developed with dermatologists, is fragrance free and hypoallergenic.
