Epaderm Emollient 500g doesn't contain any active ingredients as such. It is a mixture of yellow soft paraffin, liquid paraffin and emulsifying wax that produces a greasy moisturiser. It works by providing a layer of oil on the surface of the skin to prevent water evaporating from the skin surface.

What is Epaderm Ointment?

Epaderm Ointment 500g is an effective treatment for dry skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. The 3-in-1 ointment developed by the dermatologist can be used as an emollient, bath additive, as well as a skin cleanser.

Dry skin occurs when there is an extreme loss of moisture from the skin surface due to evaporation or various other factors. In the course of time, this leads to a condition where the skin loses its natural flexibility and develops itchy and dry scales. Unlike other forms of treatment, this ointment does not have an active ingredient. Instead, the ingredients form a wax, which helps to form a layer on the skin which prevents the skin from drying out.

How should Epaderm Ointment be used?

Before applying Epaderm you should always wash. A good skin care routine would have you wash the targeted areas twice. Once in the morning, and once in the evening (before bed). Apply after you’ve rinsed, before your skin completely dries.

Spread the ointment around. Using the first two fingers of each hand, spread upwards and outwards. Use a swirling motion to blend the moisturiser into your skin.

When should Epaderm Ointment be used?

Dry skin is often rough and scaly, feels uncomfortable and tends to be itchy. Many people have naturally dry skin, and this can be made worse by cold weather, central heating and air conditioning.

Regular use of an emollient will relieve the symptoms of dry skin and help provide a protective barrier. Developed by dermatologists, Epaderm Cream and Epaderm Ointment can help with the management of dry skin and dry skin conditions.

Epaderm Ointment is a highly effective 3-in-1 emollient. The UK’s market-leading ointment, it is ideal for eczema and night-time use for prolonged moisturisation. Epaderm Cream is a 2-in-1 emollient and cleanser manufactured from clinically proven ingredients. Its light, non-greasy formulation is perfect for daytime use.

There are various types of psoriasis and its appearance can vary in size and shape and result in flaky, scaly and red patches. These can be itchy, painful and sore. There are also different ways of treating psoriasis on different areas of the body. Psoriasis can occur on any area of the body, including the scalp, hands, feet and genitals.

When should Epaderm Ointment not be used?

Don’t use Epaderm Ointment if you’ve had a past reaction to it or any of its ingredients. Do not use this product on moist or broken skin.
