What is Epaderm Cream?

Epaderm Cream is a treatment that helps to restore moisture and soften the skin. This form of a cream is known as an emollient. An emollient is a skin treatment that does this and can reduce the effects of skin conditions such as dry skin, eczema and psoriasis. This cream uses ingredients such as glycerin and light liquid paraffin to provide relief. Unlike other treatments, this cream does not contain Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) that is in other creams but is known to irritate.

What is eczema?

Eczema is a skin condition that can affect anyone and as of today, no known treatment can cure it completely. Eczema is a skin condition that is itchy, dry, cracked, or red. Eczema can be because of an allergy, which is known as Atopic Eczema. The other form of eczema is Contact Dermatitis. Dermatitis and eczema are the same things. Contact Dermatitis is caused by coming into contact with certain substances, causing the skin reaction. There are also other types of eczema that cause different symptoms.

Who is this Epaderm Cream suitable for?

This cream is suitable to be used by adults and children who are suffering from the effects of dry skin. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to any of the ingredients that are contained in the cream. If you are using any other form of treatment for a skin condition, then it is recommended that you speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using.

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use this cream?

There is no evidence of any problems when using this Epaderm Cream when pregnant or breastfeeding. Though it is recommended that a medical professional is consulted before any treatment is used.

How should Epaderm Cream be used?

The amount of times that this cream should be used is dependent on where the cream will be applied. Measures are the number of times that the pump is pressed, 1 pump = 1 measure with the 500g cream, so the recommended dosages are as follows:

  • Face, ears, or neck – 1 measure twice a day
  • Arms and back – 2 measures twice a day
  • Legs – 4 measures twice a day
  • Anterior trunk – 2 measures twice a day
  • Hands – ½ measure twice a day
  • Genitals – ½ measure twice a day

For children under the age of 10, half those dosages. If the effects of the skin condition worsen, stop using and speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist.

Are there any side effects?

A side effect is most likely to occur as a result of an allergic reaction. If you notice a side effect, consult a medical professional immediately. You can also record any side effect that you notice using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
