What is Aptamil 1 First Baby Milk Formula Powder from Birth?

Aptamil 1 First Baby Milk Formula Powder from Birth contains a nutritionally complete formula, suitable from birth onwards if your baby is being combination or bottle-fed.

This formula is inspired by 50 years of research in early life science and combines Aptamil’s blend of ingredients with a unique process.

How to use this product

Always take Aptamil 1 First Baby Milk Formula Powder from Birth exactly as described on the box. As powdered milks are not sterile, failure to follow instructions may make your baby ill. Wash hands and sterilise all utensils according to manufacturers' instructions. Then boil 1 litre of freshly run water. Leave the kettle to cool for 30 minutes and no longer. Measure the required amount of water (refer to feeding guide) into a sterilised bottle. Be careful of scalding. Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water.

Using the scoop provided, level off the powder with the built in leveller. Do not press/heap the powder. Add the correct measure of powder to the water. Adding too many or too few scoops can be harmful. Place the sterilised teat and cap on the bottle and shake immediately, vertically and vigorously for at least 10 seconds, until the powder is dissolved. Cool under a running tap and check the temperature of the feed. Feed immediately.

Is breastfeeding or formula feeding better?

Experts favour breastfeeding as you will pass on nutrients to your baby, giving them more protection against infections, allergies and certain conditions. However, breastfeeding isn’t possible for everyone, and formula feeding is still a great, healthy alternative to give your baby the nutrients they need to grow and develop as they should.

How long does formula last?

Once you’ve made up your formula, you can use it within 24 hours as long as you’ve stored it in a fridge. If you store your formula in a cool bag with an ice pack, you should use it within 4 hours, and if you store it at room temperature, you should use it within 2 hours.

Can you reheat formula?

Formula should be used immediately and you must not reheat it - if your baby starts a bottle of formula but doesn’t finish it within an hour, you should dispose of it. This is because reheating formula can lead to a lot of the essential nutrients being lost.
