What is Pepto-Bismol Liquid Suspension?
Pepto-Bismol Liquid Suspension is a soothing remedy used to treat heartburn, nausea, indigestion, an upset stomach, in addition to helping control diarrhoea. It creates a barrier along your stomach and the lower part of your food pipe to protect against the discomfort caused by stomach acid.

How does bismuth subsalicylate work?
The active ingredient bismuth subsalicylate works by limiting the amount of fluid that travels to your bowel, managing its overactivity. Additionally, it can reduce inflammation in the intestine and kill the organisms that cause diarrhoea.
Is Pepto-Bismol suitable for children?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, do not use this product. You must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before using any new medicine.
When should this product not be used?

Are there any side effects?

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness. You may experience a blackening of the tongue or stools, but this is harmless and should go away a few days after the medication is stopped.
If you take too much Pepto-Bismol, you may experience side effects including feeling or being sick, feeling confused, dizzy or tired, deafness or a ringing or buzzing in your ears. You must speak to a doctor or pharmacist if you have taken too much of this medicine.
