CBD is making waves in the wellness industry and quickly growing in popularity. Are you thinking of trying it, but aren’t quite sure where to start?

We’ve teamed up with Cannaray to create this handy guide on what CBD actually is, what type of products are available, and how to actually use them. Keep reading to find out which CBD supplements could be right for you!

What is CBD?

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a natural active compound found in cannabis/hemp plants. Research is still ongoing into the potential benefits of taking a CBD supplement, but experts believe they’re linked to the human endocannabinoid system (ECS).

The ECS is a built-in system in our bodies that’s thought to be responsible for sending soothing signals between cells and maintaining balance. Research also suggests this system may affect your appetite, pain response, metabolism, motor coordination and stress.

The truth is, we’ll all have different experiences with CBD. So, the best way to find out how it could benefit your wellbeing is by simply giving it a go.

Is CBD safe?

With CBD being linked to cannabis, you may be wondering if it’s safe or even allowed. The answer is yes! CBD is a safe, natural compound and it’s perfectly legal in the UK as long it’s THC-free and has been derived from an approved industrial hemp strain.

“What is THC?”, you might be asking. THC, short for tetrahydrocannabinol, is a different compound found in cannabis that’s responsible for the psychoactive effects associated with smoking or ingesting illegal cannabis. CBD alone won’t cause any of these effects, so you won’t need to worry about getting ‘high’ from your supplement.

How to take CBD

Thinking about giving CBD a try? First of all, you’ll want to find a product that works best with your day-to-day routine. There are plenty of options to discover from oils and sprays to gummies and capsules. There are even topical creams and balms containing CBD if that’s something you’re interested in trying out.

Below, we’ll give you a detailed overview of some of the different types of CBD products and supplements available.

One of the most popular ways of taking a CBD supplement is by using a simple CBD oil, like Cannaray Bright Days Oil Drops. These will usually come in small bottles with a dropper, so you can easily drop the oil into your mouth and go about your day.

The recommended way of using these is by administering a drop of the oil directly beneath your tongue, then holding it for around 90 seconds to allow the oil to absorb into your mouth without swallowing it. This method will allow the CBD to absorb into your body directly without going through your digestive system.

Worried about the taste? Don’t be! Cannaray’s CBD oils are formulated with delicious natural flavourings like zesty citrus and soothing peppermint.

Gummies and capsules

Gummies and capsules are also a really easy way to get your daily dose of CBD. Cannaray CBD Gummies each contain 10mg of CBD, so they’re a great place to start if you’re looking for a small dose for your first try. They’re also super tasty with a fruity orange flavour, ideal for a sweet pick-me-up.

Looking for an extra boost of vitamins? Cannaray CBD Capsules also contain 10mg of CBD each, with an added vitamin D3, vitamin C, zinc and elderberry to supercharge your immune system.

CBD gummies & capsules can be taken at any time of day with or without food, but always read the product information to see if they’re right for you first.

Topical CBD

Looking for something to ease your aching muscles? Cannaray CBD Muscle Balm contains a soothing blend of CBD with aloe, arnica, shea butter, eucalyptus, limonene and linalool.

Simply warm a small scoop of the balm in your hands until it’s melted. Then massage into any areas that are feeling tight or achy. Massaging the balm into your skin for 10-15 minutes will help the CBD to penetrate deeper into your skin.

What is the best time to take CBD oil?

This all depends on how the CBD benefits you personally. If you’re feeling more energised, you may consider taking your CBD supplement in the morning for that extra boost. If, on the other hand, you’re getting to sleep more easily, it’ll be better to take your CBD in the evening while you unwind.

With a lower dose product like Cannaray CBD Gummies, you could even take a few throughout the day if that’s what works for you. Simply put, there’s no right or wrong answer!

How long does CBD take to work and how long does it last?

Research on the longevity of CBD is still ongoing, but one study suggests it might remain in your system for one to two days when taken orally. However, this could vary from person to person and will depend on the type of product you’re using.

We know that an oil absorbed under your tongue will act faster and work its way through your system quicker than an edible product. An edible product may last longer in your body as it has to work its way through your digestive system.

The best way to find out how long the effects of CBD last is by giving it a try. That way, you can decide how often you’d like to take it based on your own needs.

How much CBD should I take in a day?

If you’re trying CBD for the first time, you might want to start off with a smaller dose like 10 to 20mg a day to see how it makes you feel. If you’re pleased with how it’s working and you haven’t noticed any adverse reactions, you could then try a higher dose.

The important thing to remember, though, is to never take more than 70mg of CBD in one day. Make sure you read the product information thoroughly and be careful to take the right amount so you don’t exceed this limit.
