What is CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion AM SPF 50?

CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion is lightweight, non-comedogenic, fragrance free and has a non-greasy texture, ideal for daily use. It’s enriched with 3 essential ceramides to leave skin feeling soothed and hydrated for up to 24 hours, in addition to defending the skin’s natural barrier. This moisturiser offers SPF 50+ UVB/UVA protection, so you rest assured knowing your skin is safe and protected. Developed with dermatologists, CeraVe AM Facial Moisturising Lotion SPF50+ is suitable for normal to dry skin on the face, in addition to sensitive, combination and acne-prone skin.

How to use this product

After cleansing, pump the applicator to release the moisturiser onto clean fingertips or directly onto the face. Apply liberally onto your face in the morning. CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion is for daily photoprotection care. When exposed to intense or prolonged sun, use an adapted sunscreen. Avoid contact with eyes. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.

Why is an SPF in skin care important?

Ensuring that your skincare products (i.e your moisturiser) contains an SPF isn’t just important on warm, sunny days, but on cloudy and rainy days, too. Without it, your skin is at risk of being exposed to harmful UV rays which can lead to skin damage, wrinkles, sunburn, and sometimes skin cancer. It’s important to wear an SPF of at least 30 to ensure you’re protected.

What SPF should you wear daily?

You may believe that your SPF 15 sunscreen is enough to prevent skin damage, and although it’s certainly better than nothing at all, you should choose a sunscreen with at least SPF 30. There are two types of UV rays that you should protect yourself from - UVA and UVB. When buying your sunscreen, look for the UVA star rating; this should be no less than 4.

When should I use moisturiser?

Moisturisers are one of the most essential components of a skincare routine, but when is the best time to use it? Always use a moisturiser after cleansing or washing your face for a boost of hydration that will prevent your skin from drying out. Generally, using a moisturiser once in the morning (along with SPF!) and once in the evening is a good benchmark.

I personally found it a little too thick but great value for money

This is a great facial moisturiser. It hydrates my skin without making it greasy, easy to apply and rub in, and thankfully you don't need a lot of it. I really like this product. Though I do wish there was more product for the cost.
