What are Calfovit D3 1200mg/800IU Powder?

Calfovit D3 1200mg/800IU Powder is a calcium and vitamin D3 supplement that can help to correct calcium and Vitamin D deficiencies in adults and the elderly. The powder is dissolved into water and administered as a drink, so it is a convenient alternative to traditional tablets. The sachets contain 1200mg of calcium phosphate and 20 micrograms colecalciferol (vitamin D3) to help supplement the diet and increase levels of both calcium and vitamin D. If you are looking for an easy-to-administer solution to treat calcium and vitamin D deficiencies, ask a Chemist4U pharmacist if Calfovit sachets are suitable for you.

Why is calcium and vitamin D important?

Calcium and vitamin D work together to develop and maintain strong bones and teeth. Calcium is also required in order to support healthy function of the heart, muscles and nerves. It also allows our blood to clot effectively when required. Vitamin D is used by the body to absorb calcium. A lack of calcium can lead to bone conditions such as osteoporosis and a lack of vitamin D can lead to insufficient absorption which causes the body to take calcium from the stores in our bones, which weakens them. We gain calcium from eating dairy products, such as milk and cheese, as well as leafy vegetables and foods made with fortified flour. Our bodies receive vitamin D when we expose our skin to the sun. Our body converts cholesterol to vitamin D during exposure.

It isn’t always possible to receive sufficient amounts of calcium and vitamin D from our diet and lifestyle. Those who have small appetites or dietary restrictions may not receive correct amounts of calcium and those with mobility issues or those who live in parts of the world that don’t receive a lot of sunlight may be at risk of vitamin D deficiencies. It is recommended for those who cannot receive sufficient amounts of calcium and vitamin D to take a supplement to increase levels of both nutrients. It is also recommended to take a vitamin D supplement during the autumn and winter months in the UK, as we cannot receive correct amounts of vitamin D from the sun.
