What is malnutrition?

Malnutrition is a serious condition that can be quite a common health problem. It occurs when a person doesn’t receive the right amount of nutrients from their diet. The term malnutrition can refer to either:

  • Undernutrition - when your body doesn’t receive enough nutrients
  • Overnutrition - when you get more nutrients when you need

 

There are several factors that can cause malnutrition.

Medical Factors

Medical conditions that can lead to malnutrition include:

 

  • Medical conditions that cause a lack of appetite such as cancer, liver disease or persistent nausea
  • Some mental health conditions

Fortini Compact Multi-fibre should be used under medical supervision to help manage malnutrition. It is nutritionally complete with every mililitre containing 2.4 calories. Each 100ml of Fortini Multi-Fibre contains 5.7g of protein and 2.4g of dietary fibre, as well as a variety of vitamins including A, C and D which is beneficial for development. It can be used to supplement the diet of those who are not receiving the correct amount of nutrients from their food. The drink is suitable for children over the age of 1. 

 

How to use this product

Fortini Multi-Fibre is best served chilled. It can be frozen or gently heated (not boiled). Shake the bottle well before opening. Ensure you stay hydrated when using this product. 

 

When NOT to use Fortini

This product is not suitable for children under 1 year of age or for patients with galactosaemia. Do NOT use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients (see ingredients tab for full list. Due to the fibre content, intakes greater than 4 bottles per day should be used with caution in younger children.
