What is Selsun Dandruff Treatment?
Selsun Dandruff Treatment is a shampoo designed to treat dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis. If you’re tired of finding flaky skin in your hair or dusting your shoulders, this treatment can help to reduce itching and irritation in your scalp and get rid of that dry, flaky skin. Use Selsun shampoo just twice a week while washing your hair as usual to begin your treatment and soothe your irritated scalp.
What is dandruff?
Dandruff is the name given to flakes of skin which fall from your scalp onto your hair and shoulders, which can be noticeable and even a little embarrassing. Dandruff happens when the skin of your scalp is dry and irritated, causing an itching sensation that can make the flaky skin even worse if you scratch it. Dandruff usually isn’t anything to worry about and it can be cleared up with the right shampoo, but it can be annoying, especially if your scalp is itchy and irritated.
What is seborrhoeic dermatitis?
Seborrhoeic dermatitis is a skin condition that commonly affects your scalp, causing dandruff. When you have seborrhoeic dermatitis, you can experience flare ups of the condition which make your scalp red, itchy, and scaly. Flare ups can be caused by stress, tiredness, cold weather, or even just because you’re feeling a little bit unwell, leading to an inflammatory reaction that gives you an itchy, irritated scalp and dry flakes of skin in your hair. Babies can often experience seborrhoeic dermatitis, and many parents know it as cradle cap.
How will Selsun shampoo treat my dandruff?
Selsun shampoo contains an active ingredient called selenium sulphide, which helps to reduce dandruff. It works by slowing down the growth rate of the skin cells in your scalp, specifically, the layer which produces dandruff. By slowing down this growth, this shampoo reduces the amount of flaky skin that will fall onto your hair and shoulders and the itchiness that this flaking causes. It also helps to reduce greasiness in your scalp, helping your hair to look healthy and clean.
Can I use this product if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
Selsun shampoo is not suitable for use during pregnancy or while you’re breastfeeding. If you’re suffering with dandruff or seborrhoeic dermatitis during these times, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist and ask them to recommend a more suitable treatment for you.
