Buy Epaderm Ointment

Epaderm Ointment is a moisturiser that contains a mixture of soft yellow paraffin, liquid paraffin and emulsifying wax. Dry skin is caused by a lack of water in the outer layer of skin cells known as stratum corneum.

When this layer becomes dehydrated, it loses its flexibility and becomes cracked, scaly and sometimes itchy. Epaderm works by bringing back the moisture in the affected areas to stop any unwanted pain or urge to itch.

How to use this product

Always use Epaderm Ointment exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. Avoid contact with eyes. For best results, we recommend applying Epaderm directly onto the skin to create an instant moisture barrier. When doing so, apply Epaderm Ointment directly on the skin in the direction of hair growth. This will reduce the risk of blocking hair follicles.

To use as a cleanser, scoop a small portion into your hands and lather in warm water, as you would with regular hand soap. Rinse and repeat when needed. If you require an all over body treatment, use Epaderm as a bath additive. Mix four grams (approximately the size of a heaped teaspoon) into a tumbler filled with warm water, then pour the mixture into your bath. It is important to take care when exiting the bath as the ointment may cause the bathtub to become slippery.

What is dry skin?

Many people have naturally dry skin, but it can also be caused by exposure to cold weather, central heating and air conditioning. Dry skin can be rough, scaly and uncomfortable, causing itchiness. To relieve this cycle it is important to use an emollient.

Your dry skin may also be the result of eczema, which is when your natural oils are lacking. When moisture escapes, the skin will dry and crack, allowing bacteria in. This leads to inflammation and itching, most commonly in the creases of your skin, or on your elbows and knees.

Additionally, emollient is effective against psoriasis, which is a chronic autoimmune skin condition and is often hereditary. It occurs due to the rapid growth of skin cells, causing plaques to form on the skin, appearing in flaky, scaly and red patches. These can be developed on any part of the body, including the scalp, hands, feet and genitals. Although there is no cure for psoriasis, the regular application of emollients, such as Epaderm, will hydrate the skin and keep it more comfortable.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.

Do not use Epaderm Ointment

Epaderm Ointment may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this ointment if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
