What is Nicorette Icy White 2mg Gum?

Nicorette Icy White Gum is a form of treatment for people who are looking to quit smoking. This treatment is known as Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT). This works by reducing the nicotine intake when compared to smoking. This gum has an icy white flavour to it and contains 2mg of nicotine in each piece. Aside from working as an aid to quit smoking, this gum can also be used as a replacement for smoking when it is not possible to smoke.

What causes nicotine addiction?

Nicotine addiction is caused when the tobacco in a cigarette gets into the lungs after inhalation and from there, goes into the brain. When the nicotine reaches the brain, it releases a neurotransmitter that regulates mood and behaviour. This neurotransmitter is dopamine, which is released and improves the mood and gives off the feeling of pleasure. An addiction to nicotine is also dependent on habits, behaviours as well as physical factors. These will vary from person-to-person and knowing what they are can help when it comes to quitting smoking.

Who is this Nicorette Gum suitable for?

This Nicorette gum is suitable to be used by adults and children aged 12 and over. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the gum. Anyone with who any of the following applies to should speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using:

  • Are in the hospital because of heart disease
  • Have a stomach ulcer
  • Have liver or kidney disease
  • Have an overactive thyroid
  • Are diabetic

You should also seek medical advice if you are using any other form of medication for another condition.

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use this gum?

Before using any form of NRT, it is recommended that anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding and is looking to quit smoking does so without any NRT treatment. If this is proving too difficult to do, then use this gum, after consulting a medical professional for advice first.

How should Nicorette Icy White 2mg Gum be used?

Unlike standard gum, where it is chewed until the taste is gone, this Nicorette gum is different. Firstly, you chew until the taste becomes stronger, and then rest it in between the gum and the cheek. This allows for the nicotine to get into the lining of the mouth. Once the taste has faded, chew the gum again for about 30 minutes and then dispose of carefully. Only put 1 piece of gum into the mouth at a time and do not exceed 15 pieces in a day. This 2mg gum should only be used by those who smoke 20 cigarettes or less a day. For those that smoke more than 20, use 4mg gum.

Are there any side effects?

Nicorette gum can have side effects. There are side effects to nicotine withdrawals which include:
