What is Bonjela Cold Sore Cream?

Bonjela Cold Sore Cream is an invisible treatment for cold sores which also helps to prevent them from coming back. Just apply a little Bonjela to your cold sore with a clean fingertip to protect your skin cells and help the infection to heal. Bonjela Cold Sore Cream is suitable for adults, children older than 4, and those with diabetes.

What are cold sores?

Cold sores are a small collection of blisters which can appear anywhere on your face, but usually occur on your lips. Cold sores are caused by a contagious virus called herpes simplex virus type-1 (HSV-1), which stays in your skin for your entire life after you catch it. Once you have HSV-1 it can cause cold sores every so often, with some finding that their cold sores are triggered by other factors, including other illnesses, sunshine, or their period. Cold sores will usually clear up by themselves within 10 days or so, but many people choose to use over the counter remedies like Bonjela to help the cold sore to heal more quickly and protect their skin from the virus.

How can Bonjela Invisible Cold Sore Cream help to treat and prevent cold sores?

Bonjela Invisible Cold Sore Cream helps to treat cold sores by forming a protective film over the affected area. The active ingredient UV-Active gets to work immediately, keeping the virus particles from attaching to your cells, and easing symptoms like itching, tingling, and burning. It also helps to moisturise your skin and helps the area to heal, so your cold sore will usually completely disappear within 4 – 5 days.

Can I use this cream if I’m taking other medication?

If you’re taking any other medication, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using Bonjela Cold Sore Cream. Some medications can interact when used together, causing unwanted side effects or making your medication less effective, and a medical professional may wish to recommend another, more suitable treatment for you.

How to use Bonjela Cold Sore Cream

Before using Bonjela Cold Sore Cream, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly. Squeeze a little of the cream from the tube onto your fingertip, and use your finger to apply a thin layer of cream to your cold sore. Use at least 4 times a day until the cold sore completely disappears, which is usually within 4 – 5 days. Make sure to wash your hands again after applying this cream.

When should this product not be used?

Bonjela Invisible Cold Sore Cream is not suitable for use in children younger than four. Do not use this cream if you are allergic to any of the listed ingredients. If you have diabetes, make sure to speak to your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this product. For external use only, do not apply to areas which do not have cold sores. Avoid contact with eyes or other sensitive areas. For personal use only, do not share this product with anyone else as cold sores are very contagious and you could easily spread the infection to someone else.
