What is the TestCard UTI Test?

TestCard is an easy to use test kit for urinary tract infections (UTIs) that includes two test strips. Using the smartphone app, you’ll be able to see immediate, clinically accurate test results from the comfort of your own home. Results are private and securely stored on your phone. Before ordering your TestCard please click here to check the compatibility of your smartphone.

What is the TestCard UTI Test & Treat Service?

TestCard’s UTI Test & Treat Service is available UK wide and allows you to test for a urinary tract infection and treat it without necessarily needing to see your GP. You can use the test kit at a time and in a place to suit you, and, once you’ve completed the test, if you have a positive result you can either order your prescription via the TestCard app, approved by our pharmacist and delivered to your door, or share your results with your pharmacist or doctor to access treatment if required.

How to use this UTI test

To test for a UTI with this test kit, simply collect a urine sample in a clean container and dip the testing strip into your sample briefly. Ensure the strip is wet above all of the squares but below the ‘max wet’ line. While holding the testing strip at the top, scan the QR code using the app by aligning the strip to the blue guides on the screen. You’ll then be able to see your result in the app and go on to choose a treatment.

What is a urinary tract infection?

A Urinary tract infection is an infection of your bladder, kidneys or the tubes connected to them. It’s an extremely common condition in women, and although it can be really uncomfortable, it’s usually easy to treat. The symptoms include:

  • Burning or stinging feeling when passing urine

  • Needing to pass urine suddenly or more often than usual

  • Urine that's cloudy

  • Pain low down in your tummy

How accurate are the results?

TestCard’s UTI tests are made to a professional standard, the same as a laboratory test. They’re also CE Mark approved so you can be confident in your result. In a pilot study, TestCard’s technology even delivered a greater level of reliability than fixed terminal scanners used in hospitals and clinics.

Who can use the Test & Treat Service?

Anyone can use the TestCard UTI Test Kit for a quick and accurate test result. The Test & Treat service is for women ages 18-65 who have symptoms of a UTI, such as burning pain when passing urine, cloudy urine, or needing to pass urine more often than usual.  The Test & Treat service is specifically for patients with an uncomplicated UTI and you may be asked to seek care from your GP if you have any additional conditions, for example; pregnancy, lactation, immunosuppressed or renal impairment.
