What is Nytol Herbal Simply Sleep and Calm Elixir?

Nytol Herbal Simply Sleep and Calm Elixir can be used to provide relief from mild anxiety and to aid sleep. It contains extract of Valerian root which is used in traditional medicine to promote calmness and to help aid restful sleep. If you’re suffering from mild anxiety symptoms, such as work or exam stress that’s keeping you up at night, Nytol Herbal Simply Sleep and Calm Elixir can help to relieve this anxiety and prevent your mind from racing before helping you to drift off into a natural and restful sleep. 


What causes sleep problems?

Having problems falling or staying asleep (also known as insomnia) is very common and be caused by a variety of factors including:

  • Stress

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Noise

  • Uncomfortable bed or room temperature

  • Consuming alcohol, caffeine or nicotine

  • Using recreational drugs

  • Jet lag

  • Shift work

  • Some illnesses


What is anxiety?

Anxiety causes feelings of unease, worry or fear that can vary in severity. Everyone feels anxious from time to time, but sometimes this feeling can become excessive and irrational. People who suffer with anxiety will feel worried or uneasy for long periods of time and it may not be limited to one particular situation or issue. Common symptoms of anxiety included:

  • Feeling restless or worried

  • Finding it hard to concentrate or sleep

  • Dizziness or heart palpitations

You can improve your quality of sleep by improving your sleep hygiene before going to sleep. Sleep hygiene is a set of different practices and habits that are carried out before bedtime for a restful sleep. One of the main features of good sleep hygiene is ensuring you spend an appropriate time sleeping by avoiding going to bed too late and avoid sleeping in too late. Other good sleep hygiene habits include:

  • Limiting naps to 30 minutes during the day

  • Avoid consuming caffeine and nicotine before bedtime

  • Exercising 

  • Avoiding food that can be disruptive before sleeping

  • Relaxing before bedtime 

  • Ensuring your bed and the temperature of your room is comfortable

  • Turn off screens before going to bed

 

How can Nytol Herbal Elixir help to aid sleep?

Nytol Herbal Elixir contains the active ingredient Valerian which has been used in traditional medicines for decades to promote calmness and encourage restful sleep. The soothing formula helps to provide temporary relief from symptoms caused by mild anxiety and to aid sleep. This medicine is presented in a liquid elixir form, so is perfect for those who can’t or prefer not to take tablets. 


How to use this product

Nytol Herbal is easy to administer. This product is suitable for the elderly and adults over the age of 18. 

To relief symptoms of mild anxiety: take 2 x 5ml spoonfuls three times a day with water or fruit juice. 

To aid sleep: take 2 x 5ml spoonfuls 30 minutes before bedtime, with an earlier dose during the evening if necessary 

The effects of this product may not be experienced immediately, therefore this product should be taken continuously for 2 - 4 weeks. 

Do NOT take more than 4 single doses in a day.


When NOT to use Nytol

Do NOT take this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in this product (see ingredients tab for full list) or if you are:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Under 18 years of age

  • Taking a medicine which makes you drowsy

  • Suffering from alcoholism or liver disease

Seek advice from your GP BEFORE taking this product if you have been told you have an intolerance to some sugars. Do NOT use this product when operating machinery or vehicles. 


Does Nytol Elixir have any side effects?

Like all medicines, Nytol can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them. Side effects of this product include:

  • Nausea 

  • Abdomnial cramps

If these symptoms persist or become troublesome, discontinue use.
