Haemorrhoids & Piles

Haemorrhoids (also known as piles) can be a real pain in the butt - literally! These swollen little lumps that appear in and around your anus can be sore and itchy, and can make it difficult to go to the bathroom as well as sit down.

The cause of haemorrhoids isn’t really known, but it’s speculated that they can form if you’ve been pushing really hard when you poo, which is common if you’re constipated, and they’re also common during pregnancy.

Remember, your final treatment will be decided by our prescribers based on your answers provided within your consultation. You will be asked to indicate a preferred treatment option from a selected list after completion of your consult.

How do haemorrhoid & pile treatments work?

Haemorrhoids are usually harmless, they’re just really irritating until they’ve settled down a bit, but if yours are particularly stubborn or keep coming back then you might benefit from a prescribed piles treatment.

These can include creams that help to reduce their swelling and ease symptoms like itching and pain or constipation treatments which can make it easier for you to poo, treating the potential cause of your piles.

Our prescribers might recommend a piles treatment for you after your short consultation, where you’ll fill in a quick questionnaire that tells our prescribers all they need to know about your condition and whether a haemorrhoid cream or constipation remedy would be right for you.

If they write you a prescription, our pharmacy team will get it sent out quickly and in discreet packaging, perfect if you’re worried about the embarrassment of getting a haemorrhoid treatment from your local pharmacy.
