What is Nizoral Shampoo?

Nizoral Shampoo is a form of treatment that works to provide relief for dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis, a more serious form of dandruff. The active ingredient in this shampoo is ketoconazole. Ketoconazole is an antifungal medication that treats the fungi on the scalp that causes dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis.

What are the causes of dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis?

Dandruff is caused when the skin cells grow too quickly and as a result, there is a surplus of skin. This causes the white or grey flakes associated with the condition. Normally, the skin grows every few weeks, but with dandruff, this is reduced to less than a week. Seborrhoeic dermatitis is a more serious form of dandruff that is caused by a yeast infection, which causes the skin to become red and scaly.

Who is this shampoo suitable for?

This shampoo is suitable to be used by adults and children aged 12 and over. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to any of the ingredients that are contained in this shampoo. If you are using any other form of medication, speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using.

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use this shampoo?

This Nizoral Shampoo is safe to use by someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding.

How should Nizoral Shampoo be used?

To use this shampoo, wet the hair and then apply a small amount of shampoo to the hair. Massage the shampoo into a lather and leave it on for 3-5 minutes. Then rinse the hair thoroughly. Use the shampoo every 3-4 days for 2-4 weeks. If the scalp has not cleared after 4 weeks, speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist for advice.

Are there any side effects?

Like with many types of medicine, there is a chance of side effects. Potential side effects include:

  • An allergic reaction, including swelling in the face
  • Itching
  • Irritation
  • Acne
  • Dermatitis
  • Flaking skin

If you notice a side effect, stop using and speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record a side effect using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

Nizoral Dandruff Shampoo - 100ml - 2 Pack Reviews

Wendy Mclaughlin,
Reasonable price and quick delivery
Nadifo Ali,
I used only one time, but I hope it’ll work.
If you suffer with dandruff dermatitis excellent I highly recommend this product
No unpleasant scent, medium lather (once on the head add a little more water for improved lather), fast acting medicated shampoo, does exactly what it’s supposed to, for long hair you will need to use conditioner after.
Patricia Hamlet,
Takes a few weeks to see any improvement, but it is very effective . But still needs to be used twice a week thereafter .
