How we are regulated

Genital Herpes

The genital herpes virus is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) that is passed from person to person during sex and affects the skin on your genitals.

When you have genital herpes you’ll get outbreaks of blisters on your vagina, penis, or anus, accompanied by an itching or tingling sensation, and pain when you pee. You may notice that these symptoms seem very similar to cold sores, and that’s because cold sores and herpes are caused by the same virus lurking in different parts of your body.

Remember, your final treatment will be decided by our prescribers based on your answers provided within your consultation. You will be asked to indicate a preferred treatment option from a selected list after completion of your consult.

How do genital herpes treatments work

Although you won’t get outbreaks of blisters all the time, there currently isn’t a way to permanently get rid of the herpes virus, as it lives under your skin where it can flare up every so often.

However, antiviral treatments can help to shorten an outbreak by a couple of days, speeding up your recovery so you’ll feel comfortable more quickly.

Of course, seeing a doctor about genital herpes face to face can be embarrassing and uncomfortable, which is why our prescribers are here to provide you with a quick online consultation.

Answer the questionnaire set up by our prescribers so they can assess your condition and write you a prescription for treatment if they think it’s necessary.

Then, our pharmacy team will send out your medication in discreet packaging, so nobody will need to know about your treatment but you.
