What is Buttercup Original Cough Syrup?

Buttercup Original Cough Syrup is a traditional herbal remedy for symptoms of colds, sore throats and a variety of cough symptoms. The calming formula is non-drowsy and easy to administer for a quick and simple solution to common cold symptoms. Whether you’re struggling with an annoying tickly cough or lost for words due to a hoarse throat, buttercup cough syrup can help provide relief and soothe the irritating symptoms associated with a cold, so you can get on with your day.

What causes a cold?

The common cold is a virus that can cause a variety of symptoms including:

  • A blocked or runny nose

  • A sore throat

  • Headaches

  • Muscle aches

  • Coughs

  • Sneezing

  • A raised temperature

  • Pressure in your ears and face

  • Loss of taste and smell

A cold is usually never a cause for concern and can be easily treated with cough and cold medicines, as well as getting plenty of rest, keeping warm and drinking plenty of water to avoid dehydration. The cold virus is very infectious and can be easily spread to others through coughs and sneezes which disperse the germs. A cold can start spreading from before the infected person starts to experience symptoms and the person remains infectious until the symptoms have finished. The best methods to avoid catching a cold are to maintain good hand hygiene, not sharing towels or household items with someone who is suffering with a cold and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

How can Buttercup Syrup help to relieve a cough?

The active ingredients in Buttercup Syrup are Squill liquid extract and capsicum tincture which work together to ease symptoms of the common cold and provide relief from tickly or chesty coughs. Squill is a plant which helps to loosen mucus which makes it easier to cough up and capsicum tincture provides a warming sensation which can help to soothe an irritated throat. The syrup formula helps to coat the throat, to provide relief from coughing and prevent tickly sensations that can induce coughing.
