What are Bisodol Indigestion Relief Tablets?

Bisodol Indigestion Relief Tablets neutralise excess stomach acids to ease discomfort caused by indigestion. What is indigestion?

Indigestion can cause pain or discomfort in your abdomen or a burning sensation behind your breastbone (heartburn). Common symptoms of indigestion include:

  • Feeling uncomfortably full or heavy 

  • Belching or flatulence

  • Bringing food or fluid back up from your stomach

  • Bloating 

  • Feeling sick

  • Vomiting

Symptoms tend to appear after eating or drinking alther there can sometimes be a short period of time in between eating a meal and experiencing indigestion. 

What causes indigestion?

There are a variety of reasons why you may be experiencing indigestion and it is rarely due to a serious underlying illness. Your stomach naturally produces acid, but sometimes this acid can irritate the lining of your stomach, the top part of your bowel or your gullet. When this occurs it can cause an uncomfortable burning sensation . Other causes of indigestion include:

  • Medications

  • Obesity

  • Stress or anxiety

  • Hiatus hernia

  • Stomach ulcers 

How can Bisodol provide relief from indigestion symptoms?

Bisodol is an antacid and contains the active ingredients: 

  • Calcium carbonate

  • Light magnesium carbonate

  • Sodium carbonate

The active ingredients work together to neutralise excess stomach acid and relieves the discomfort caused by indigestion. This product is easy to administer as the tablets can be sucked or chewed. Bisodol can be used to treat heartburn, trapped wind and pain caused by indigestion.

 

How to take Bisodol tablets

This product is suitable for adults, the elderly and children over the age of 12 years. Suck or chew one or two tablets as required. If symptoms persist, seek advice from your doctor.

Warnings

If you take more Bisodol Indigestion Relief Tablets than you should it is unlikely that they will cause you any harm. However, you may experience constipation, diarrhoea or feel bloated. Consult your doctor if these symptoms do not go away. If you stop taking Bisodol indigestion relief tablets after you have been using them for a long while, you may suffer a temporary worsening of symptoms. This is known as rebound hyperacidity. Consult your doctor if this symptom does not go away. 

When NOT to take this product

Do NOT take this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients (see ingredients tab for full list) or if you have heart or kidney problems or if you have been told that the level of phosphate in your blood is low. Speak to your doctor or a Chemist4U pharmacist BEFORE taking this product if you:

  • Have been old by a doctor that you are intolerant to some sugars

  • Are following a controlled sodium diet - you should take into consideration that each tablet contains 18mg of sodium.
