How to treat small wounds
Most small wounds such as cuts, scrapes and superficial burns are usually simple to treat and can be easily looked after at home. Here are some simple tips you can use to treat small wounds at home.
- If the wound is bleeding, apply pressure to the area using a clean, dry and absorbent materials, such as a bandage, for several minutes
- If the cut is on a hand or arm, raise it above your head to help reduce blood flow
- If the injury is on the leg or foot, lie down and raise your legs
- Clean the wound after it has stopped bleeding and clean it thoroughly
- Wash and dry your hands before cleansing the wound by placing under a source of clean water
- Pat the area dry with a clean towel
- Keep the dressing clean by changing it when necessary
- Check the wound regularly and if it has closed, you can remove the dressing

How to use this product
Clean and dry the affected area thoroughly. Apply the gel, gently, using clean hands. Do NOT massage the gel into the wound. Savlon Advanced Healing Gel can be applied once or twice a day. Apply a bandage or plaster to the wound if required.
Warnings
- Do NOT use on extensive weeping or infected wounds unless recommended by your doctor
- Do NOT use after the expiry date shown on the end of the tube
- If symptoms persist, consult your GP
When NOT to use this product
Do NOT use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients (see ingredients tab for full list). This product is for external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes, middle ear meninges and other nervous tissues. If you experience any side effects or allergic reactions discontinue use immediately and seek medical advice.
Side Effects
Allergic reactions to Savlon Advanced Healing Gel are rare, but they can be possible. Discontinue use immediately and see medical attention if you experience:
