What is Mute Nasal Snoring Device?

The Mute Nasal Snoring Device is a piece of technology that helps to prevent snoring when sleeping. It works by sitting on the nose and helping to open the airway. This means that it is easier to breathe through the nose and not need to breathe through the mouth, a common cause of snoring. These devices are made using medical-grade polymers that make Mute an easy fit at night.

What causes snoring?

Snoring is caused by vibrations as you breathe at night. Things that vibrate include the tongue, mouth, throat, or airways. These things narrow as you sleep, making breathing more difficult. There are things that can make the chances of snoring more likely, which are:

  • Being overweight
  • Smoking
  • Drinking too much alcohol
  • Sleeping on your back

There is a condition that can cause snoring, sleep apnoea, which causes the airways to become blocked when you are sleeping.

Who are Mute Snoring Devices suitable for?

These devices are suitable to be used by adults and children aged 12 and over who are suffering from the effects of snoring.

How should Mute Nasal Snoring Device be used?

When using for the first time, it is recommended that you wear for a couple of hours before using in order to get used to the feel of the Mute device. When used, it should be worn for a maximum of 8 hours. After using, the device should be cleaned in warm water and rinsed before using again. Each device should only be used a maximum of 10 times. This is because, over time, hygiene can potentially compromise the device. The device can also harden, reducing effectiveness. The mechanism will also wear over time, making it less effective when keeping the airways open.

Will Mute alone cure snoring?

In a lot of cases, Mute will reduce snoring. Though, it some cases it may not be enough. If Mute alone does not work, it has been proved that things such as therapeutic pillows and throat sprays can help improve the effectiveness.
