What are Hoopsy Eco Pregnancy Tests?

If you’re looking for an ethical and sustainable approach to fertility, choose Hoopsy. Not only are Hoopsy’s eco-friendly pregnancy tests made from 99% responsibly sourced paper, but they don’t take up too much room in landfill and they break down in just six weeks.

Hoopsy’s goal is to not only help women and their partners along their fertility journey, but also to help improve the environment. After all, with every test sold, it prevents another single-use plastic from being thrown into landfill. Worried about the paper disintegrating when it comes into contact with your urine? Don’t be – the test remains perfectly firm, and with it being made of paper, it’s a breeze to write on.

With Hoopsy, there’s no need to sacrifice on accuracy, either. These recyclable tests are up to 99% accurate and they can be used up to five days before your period is due. Better yet, you can get your results in as little as five minutes. This product contains 5 tests.

How to use this product

Always use the Hoopsy Eco Pregnancy Test exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. If you’re testing before your expected period, we’d recommend using your first urine of the day. The test should be used at room temperature (15-30°C).

To use, open the sealed pouch and remove the test, using it as soon as possible. Hold the end with the Hoopsy logo and put the other end of the test into your urine stream for 3-5 seconds, being careful not to allow your urine to touch the MAX line. To get the most accurate reading, use your first urine of the day.

After, place the test on a flat surface with the printed side facing upwards. Wait 5-10 minutes to read the result. Do not read the result after 10 minutes as the result may not be accurate.

Reading the result is simple. If you have a positive result, meaning you’re likely to be pregnant, 2 pink lines should appear in the testing window, but it’s still a positive result if 1 line is lighter than the other. If the test is negative, meaning you probably aren’t pregnant, 1 pink line should appear to the right of the testing window. If 1 pink line appears on the left or there aren’t any lines at all, it means that the test is invalid and you should take another test.

Why are plastic pregnancy tests bad for the environment?

Along with other single-use plastics we toss like water bottles and straws, plastic pregnancy tests are taking a serious toll on the environment. These plastic tests take around ten to thirty years to break down in landfill, and even then they leave behind microplastics. Plastic pollution has a devastating impact on our environment and the animals we share it with. Not only that, but it’s damaging communities and livelihoods, too.

How can I increase my chances of conceiving?

If you’re trying for a baby, there are things you can do that can increase your chances of conceiving. You should aim to have sex around the time that you’re ovulating (about 12 - 16 days before your period starts, but you can take an ovulation test for a more accurate reading) or every 2 - 3 days. Try to maintain a healthy weight, stop smoking, reduce your alcohol intake and take a folic acid supplement each day.
