What is the Gillette Fusion 5 Razor?

Gillette Fusion 5 provides a close shave with complete style control. It features 5 anti-friction blades and a precision trimmer which is great for edging under the nose or sideburns. The Lubrication Strip fades when you need to change your razor blades.

Disposable Razors vs Reusable Razors

Gillette has a wide range of razors that are both disposable and reusable which can suit different shaving needs, but which type is best for you?

Disposable razors tend to last between 3 and 10 shaves. Gillette disposable razors still contain 3 or 5 blades, like their reusable razors, but can be thrown away in its entirety. These are most suitable for those who only shave a couple of days a week or for travel.

Gillette Fusion 5 reusable razors have a refillable handle that can be used with Gillette’s range of Fusion 5 refills. Each refill lasts around a month, depending on your shaving habits. Reusable razors are great for any time use and better for the environment as it is only the refill that is discarded after use rather than the full razor unit.

How does Gillette Fusion 5 work?

Gillette Fusion 5 features everything you need for a close, clean shave without the irritation. The 5 anti-friction blades remove hair close to the skin without the risk of pulling on the skin which can cause nicks and cuts. The precision trimmer, on the back of the razor, allows you to style hard-to-reach areas such as under the nose and sideburns. Each Fusion 5 refill provides up to 1 month of shaves, depending on your shaving habits.

How to use Gillette Fusion 5

Apply your preferred shaving foam or gel, as this allows the razor to glide across your face with less friction which helps to protect your face from nicks and cuts and helps to prevent shaving rash. Don’t apply too much pressure when you guide the razor across your face. Use the razor blades or larger parts of your face and the precision trimmer to shape sideburns and trim hard-to-reach areas such as the nose.

How to get the most out of your shave

Whether you’re a pro at shaving or a complete newbie, here are some tips and tricks for getting the most out of your shave.

Hydration

Shaving after a shower or even in the shower can ensure that your skin is hydrated which can help to minimise cuts, nicks and irritation. Hydrating softens the hair on your face which allows the razor to glide easier. Use a face scrub or was to remove oil, dirt and debris from your face to prepare your skin for a comfortable shave.

Check your razor

Check for any dull blades or if the lubrication strips are worn. If your razor has become dull, it is time to replace it. Razors with dull blades or faded lubrication strips can cause razor burn, irritation and prohibit a close shave.

Rinse your blades

This can prevent hair and skin cells from clogging the blades for a closer shave. Don’t tap your razor against the sink as this can seriously damage the precisely engineered parts of the razor.

Shave with and against the grain

Facial hair grows in all directions so you may need to shave both with and against the grain to ensure you remove every hair.

Use a moisturiser or aftershave

Rinse your face with cool water and gently pat dry, before applying a hydrating moisturiser or aftershave to soothe your skin after shaving

When NOT to use Gillette Razor Blades

Do NOT use Gillette Razor Blades if you are allergic to any of the ingredients used in the Lubrication strips (see ingredients tab for full list). This product is for external use only.
