What are Germoloids suppositories?

Germoloids suppositories are a treatment for piles and haemorrhoids which works from the inside out to help relieve symptoms of piles. It helps to relieve pain and discomfort in the affected area, while soothing and reducing swelling.

 

What are haemorrhoids (also known as piles)?

Haemorrhoids, or piles, are swollen blood vessels which can be found in or around your anus. The exact cause of piles is unknown, but increased blood pressure in the area can be a factor. For example, if you strain when you’re on the toilet due to constipation, this can cause piles. You may also experience piles during pregnancy.

 

How do Germoloids suppositories treat haemorrhoids and piles?

Germoloids suppositories contain two active ingredients which work together to treat piles and haemorrhoids. The first ingredient is zinc oxide, which helps to shrink swelling in the affected area. It also has mild antiseptic properties, working to soothe and protect the area. The second ingredient is Lidocaine, a local anaesthetic which soothes swelling, pain, and irritation and can also help to relieve itching. Germoloids suppositories also work as a lubricant, helping your bowel movements to pass more easily.

 

What else can I do to relieve my haemorrhoids?

There are a few things you can do alongside using your Germoloids suppository to avoid making your haemorrhoids worse. These include:

• Eating a high fibre diet which includes fruits, vegetables, and whole-grain food
• Stay hydrated, try to drink at least 8 glasses of water every day
• Don’t hold it in, go to the toilet as soon as you feel the need to pass a stool
• Try to avoid straining when you pass solids
• Exercise regularly, this can help to stimulate a bowel movement

 

Can I use this product if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

Germoloids suppositories can be used if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, however, you should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this or any other medication at this time. Some medications may not be safe for you and your baby, or you may need to use a different dose of medication than usual, and a medical professional can help you to choose the right product for you.

 

How to use Germoloids suppositories

Gently wash and dry the area around your anus before using Germoloids suppositories and wash your hands before and after use. Remove the suppository from its packaging and insert into your back passage, round end first. Insert one suppository before you go to bed, one first thing in the morning and one after you have a bowel movement. Do not use more than 4 suppositories in any 24 hours.

 

When should Germoloids suppositories not be used?

Germoloids suppositories are not recommended for children under the age of 12. This product is for anal use only, do not swallow or put the suppository in your mouth. Do not use Germoloids suppositories if you are allergic to zinc oxide, lidocaine, or any of the other listed ingredients. See your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this product if you have excessive bleeding, suffer from haemorrhoids frequently, or have severe haemorrhoids.

 

Does this product have side effects?

Like all medication, Germoloids can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. You may rarely experience local irritation after you have inserted a suppository. How to store this product

Store in a cool, dry place which is below 25 degrees C. Store this product in its original carton and do not use after the expiration date printed on carton and blister pack has passed. Keep out of sight and reach of children.
