Dulcolax Dulcoease Stool Softener 100mg 30 Capsules

£4.49

What is Dulcoease (docusate sodium) and what does it treat?

This medicine contains docusate sodium and is designed to treat constipation. Dulcoease gives softening relief from painful stools and allows a more comfortable way of going to the toilet.

These easy to swallow capsules for adults and children over 12 will soften the stools (faeces) by increasing the water levels within your body.

If you are feeling constipated and are struggling to pass stools, Dulcoease will give the relief needed and allow you to carry on with everyday life.

As docusate sodium is a laxative, it is recommended that you do not take it every day, for a long time.

Do not take:

  • If you are intolerant to any sugars such as fructose or sorbitol. These capsules contain a small amount of sorbitol.
  • Together with a mineral oil laxative, such as liquid paraffin

Speak to your doctor if:

  • You take this tablet every day
  • You have stomach pains which don’t go away

Other medication:

Contact your doctor if you are taking other medicines whilst using Dulcoease. These can include medicines that have been purchased without a prescription.

Can I take Dulcoease if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Always speak to your doctor or another healthcare professional before taking this medicine if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or breastfeeding.

What is the recommended dosage?

Adults and children over the age of 12 should take 1 capsule 3 times a day with water, then start to reduce the dose accordingly.

Make sure not to take more than one capsule 5 times a day. This medicine is not for children under 12 years of age.

If you take more than you should have:

If you take more than has been recommended, discontinue use and speak to your doctor immediately.

What causes constipation?

Having normal bowel movement is essential for everybody, but normal is different in different people. Some can pass stools every day, whereas others do not.

Constipation happens when the normal muscle actions in the bowel slow down, this can be caused by a number of factors:

  • You haven’t passed stools at least 3 times a week
  • Faeces is often difficult to push out and larger than usual
  • Your poo is often dry, hard and lumpy

By taking Dulcoease, you can relieve yourself of constipation and carry on with your day normally. Drinking lots of fluids whilst taking this medicine will reduce the risk of becoming dehydrated.

Active ingredient in each capsule: Docusate sodium 1mg. Contains docusate sodium.
