What is CONTOUR® Next Connected Meter?
The CONTOUR® Next Connected Meter is used to help patients and healthcare professionals monitor blood glucose levels in patients who have diabetes. It can help to understand whether current treatment is working to keep diabetes under control, and can prevent complications associated with diabetes such as hypoglycaemia. The CONTOUR® Next Connected Meter quantitively measures glucose in blood drawn from the fingertips or palms.
This meter connects with the free CONTOUR® app allowing you to easily read and share your results.

How to use this product
Always use this product as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. CONTOUR® Next Connected Meter is easy to use. After taking your blood sample using a lancet, insert a compatible test strip into the meter to turn it on. Holding the test strip against your fingertip where you’ll usually take your blood sample, let the blood seep into the test strip. Your reading will then be ready to view on the meter screen, the smartLIGHT® colour indicator can help you clearly indicate if your blood glucose levels are above, within or below your target range. Read the enclosed patient information leaflet for further details on how to use this device.
What is blood glucose monitoring?
Blood glucose monitoring is measuring the amount of sugar in your blood. Diabetes can cause dangerous spikes and dips in your blood glucose levels, and monitoring this helps to prevent these serious medical events. Blood glucose monitoring helps you identify where your blood glucose range is at any given time and it can help you detect patterns and triggers for spikes such as when you eat. Blood glucose monitoring is an important part of diabetes management.
What is smartLIGHT®?
smartLIGHT® is a feature that makes it easier and quicker to understand what your reading means. It uses colours similar to a traffic light system to indicate if your blood glucose levels are below, within or above your target range. If you see the meter light up red this means your glucose levels are below your target range, green means they are within range and amber means above range.
What is Second-Chance® Sampling technology?
If your first blood sample is insufficient to get an accurate reading, the meter has a 60-second count down to give you time to add more blood to the same test strip. The meter will beep twice and a blinking blood drop with a plus sign will appear on the screen if the test strip does not have enough blood to complete the reading.
Compatible lancets, test strips and apps
In order for your blood glucose meter to be effective you must use lancets and test strips that are compatible with this device. CONTOUR® Next Connected Meter works with the following:
MICROLET® lancing device and lancets
To get the most out of your glucose meter, download the CONTOUR® DIABETES app from your app store. The app makes managing your diabetes easier. It allows you to track and share your readings with your healthcare team, get alerts when your readings are critically high or low, set reminders for when your next reading is due and discover patterns in your blood glucose levels. There is no need to keep handwritten records of your readings as the app stores everything in one convenient place. This app is available for iOS or Android smartphones and tablets.
