What is Complan?
Complan is a nutritional drink that is ideal for those who struggle to meet their nutritional requirements through their diets. It can be made up warm or cold and and is available in delicious banana, vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate flavours. These shakes are gluten free and suitable for vegetarians, making them perfect for anyone who may need extra nutrients.
Why would I need a nutritional drink?
Some people might need a nutritional drink to help them to get the nutrients they need when they’re struggling to chew or swallow or have lost their appetite, for example, after dental work or during an illness. They may also be useful for those who are recovering from an operation or have difficulty maintaining or gaining weight.
What nutrients are in this nutritional drink?
Complan contains a range of essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals in each serving. When each shake is made up with 200ml of water, it contains 224 calories, 34.3g of carbohydrate, 8.1g of fat, and 8.5g of protein. The vitamins and minerals included in each serving include:
- Vitamin A - 303µg
- Vitamin D - 51µg
- Vitamin C – 29mg
- Vitamin B6 – 1.0mg
- Iron – 3.7mg
- Calcium – 308mg
How to take Complan
To make a Complan shake you will need 200ml of water or milk, which can be cold or warm. Pour a little of the milk or water into a glass or mug and add the Complan sachet. Mix well to form a paste and then stir in the remaining water or milk. Leave to stand for 2 minutes and then drink straight away, or store in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
When should Complan not be used?
Complan is not suitable for use by children under the age of 1, unless under medical supervision. Use with caution in children aged between 1 – 5. Do not take this product if you are allergic to cow’s milk or any of the other listed ingredients. This product is not suitable for patients with galactosaemia. Food supplements should not be used in place of a balanced diet or healthy lifestyle. Speak to your doctor, dietician, or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before taking this product if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, diabetic, taking any other medication, or have an underlying medical condition.
