What are Cerumol ear drops?
Cerumol ear drops are made from medicinal grade olive oil and work to soften and remove stubborn earwax blockage. If you suffer from blocked ears caused by dry, hardened earwax, Cerumol can help to provide the relief you need.
What happens when you have blocked ears?
When your ears are blocked with hard, dried earwax, you can experience several symptoms that will let you know that things aren’t right. Some of the most common side effects of earwax build up include:
- Loss of hearing
- Earache
- Itchiness
- Dizziness
- Ear infections
- High pitched tones or ringing in the ear (also known as tinnitus)
How will these olive oil ear drops clear my blocked ears?
Cerumol contains medicinal grade olive oil, which is the active ingredient. The olive oil soaks into the hard, built-up earwax in your ear canal. This softens the wax, helping it to fall out of the ear naturally, or preparing it to be syringed away by your doctor or nurse.
Should I try to remove ear wax myself?
Cerumol ear wax drops help to soften ear wax so it can fall out on its own, but you may be tempted to try and remove the wax by yourself. You absolutely should not do this and you should never stick anything into your ear in an attempt to remove the wax. The organs in your ear are very delicate and can be accidentally damaged if you try to remove your ear wax by yourself. Play it safe, and let your doctor or nurse remove your ear wax if necessary.
How to use Cerumol ear drops?
Tilt your head sideways, keeping the ear you wish to treat facing upwards. Use the dropper to place 2 – 3 Cerumol ear drops into your ear, being careful not to touch the ear with the dropper. Gently massage around the outside of the ear. Keep head tilted for a few minutes to allow drops to soak into the wax and to reach the eardrum. Plug lightly with cotton wool to prevent leaking. Repeat process in the other ear if necessary. For best results, apply Cerumol ear drops twice a day for up to 7 days.
When should Cerumol not be used?
Cerumol ear drops are not suitable for use on children under the age of 1, children younger than 5 should only use this product under medical supervision. Do not use this product if you are allergic to olive oil. For external use only, avoid getting this product into your eyes. Check that dropper is not broken or damaged before use.
