What are Benadryl Allergy 10mg One a Day Tablets?

Benadryl Allergy contains the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride, a type of non-drowsy antihistamine. If you’re struggling with allergies such as hay fever, pet, dust or skin allergens, taking an antihistamine can effectively help to relieve your symptoms.

What is the recommended dosage?

Always take Benadryl Allergy exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. This is for oral use only. For children aged 12 years and over and adults, take 1 tablet once per day, swallowed whole with a glass of water. Do not take any more than 1 tablet in any 24 hour period.

How does cetirizine dihydrochloride relieve allergy symptoms?

Cetirizine is a non-drowsy antihistamine and it’s the active ingredient in Benadryl. The purpose of these antihistamines is to stop an allergic reaction, such as hay fever, pet or skin allergies, from happening. They work by stopping any excess production of the chemical histamine in the immune system, the chemical that triggers an allergic reaction.

What are the symptoms of hay fever?

Hay fever presents symptoms similar to the common cold, however, hay fever can last for weeks and months at a time. You may experience the following symptoms:

  • Sneezing

  • Coughing

  • A runny or blocked nose

  • Red, watery eyes

  • An itchy throat, mouth, nose and ears

  • Loss of smell

  • Pain in your forehead and temples

  • Headache

  • Fatigue

Are Benadryl Allergy 10mg One a Day Tablets suitable for children?

Benadryl Allergy is suitable for children aged 12 years and over. If you’re looking for an allergy relief treatment for a child under the age of 12, you should speak to your GP or Chemist4U for advice on alternative treatment options.

Are Benadryl Allergy 10mg One a Day Tablets suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women?

If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking Benadryl Allergy. If you are breastfeeding, you should not take Benadryl Allergy as the active ingredient, cetirizine dihydrochloride, will pass into your breast milk.

Does cetirizine dihydrochloride cause drowsiness?

Benadryl Allergy contains the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride which may cause some people to feel drowsy. You should not drive or use heavy machinery until you know how this medicine affects you.
